January 24, 20251 yr Messy is #1 on US iTunes too it’s a global hit and I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up eoty #1 in the UK
January 24, 20251 yr What does "pull a Britney" mean in the context of 'Messy' (or shouldn't I ask?) Probably shave her head
January 24, 20251 yr I looked up the sales of Kate Nash - Foundations yesterday, crazy that it missed out by less than 200 copies to 'Umbrella', then increased in sales by more than 50% only to lose out to 'The Way I Are' by 16 copies! I'm not sure if 'APT.' will be that close, but to miss out narrowly to multiple different songs is unlucky indeed. Yeah, Foundations definitely falls under that category too! Sales were pretty low in 2007 but that's still an incredibly small margin.
January 24, 20251 yr Gutting for APT. It really feels like it had everything going for it to be a huge No.1 when I first heard it, but it has just never managed it. Happy for Lola though, Messy is a great song and it's fab to see a British solo artist at No.1 again - please let this be a much better year for homegrown talent. Unlike APT. though, which has almost certainly just missed out on its last chance, I think Messy will be in contention for the top for weeks to come yet. The Central/Dave song has absolutely nothing on Sprinter, so even if it does open at No.1, I don't see it taking too long for Messy to get back up there (watch it open with 1m streams and stay there for 50 days now).
January 24, 20251 yr New peaks and new entries outside the top 40: 47. Jade LeMac - Constellations (+3) 53. The Marías - No One Noticed (+3) 54. Sub Focus & Katy B - Push The Tempo (+5) 58. Bad Bunny - NUEVAYoL (+7) 60. SZA ft. Kendrick Lamar - 30 For 30 (+2) 61. Aitch & Bou - Raving In The Studio (NEW) 64. Beabadoobee - Real Man (+28) 65. Jazzy & Kilimanjaro - No Bad Vibes (+2) 69. Don Toliver - No Pole (+7) 72. Bad Bunny - BAILE INoLVIDABLE (+3) 77. Kidwild & Nemzzz - Redemption (NEW) 99. Bl3ss & CamrinWatsin - Craving 4 U (NEW)
January 24, 20251 yr (watch it open with 1m streams and stay there for 50 days now). don't jinx it !!! :puke2:
January 24, 20251 yr Interesting to see 'That's So True' still #1 on audio streaming and 'APT.' #1 on total streaming, but 'Messy' now #1 on sales - wonder how much difference iTunes made!
January 24, 20251 yr lola also had 7-inch vinyls for messy dispatch on wednesday. not sure how many she could've sold but thatll have added some sales!
January 24, 20251 yr Hopefully those fake sale wernt the difference poor Rose As has been pointed out already, Lola increased her lead on streaming Thursday so it probably would've worked out even moreso in her favour. (Unless you were referring to Lola's physicals)
January 24, 20251 yr Lola was a good 500k ahead for the week on Spotify and ahead on Apple Music all week so the audio must be including YouTube where the majority are free streams and don’t count as much
January 24, 20251 yr As has been pointed out already, Lola increased her lead on streaming Thursday so it probably would've worked out even moreso in her favour. (Unless you were referring to Lola's physicals) Referring to the physicals  as everytime someone got to number 1 on physicals it was called fake in here :P Lola was a good 500k ahead for the week on Spotify and ahead on Apple Music all week so the audio must be including YouTube where the majority are free streams and don’t count as much By that logic Gracie should still be number 1 :P
January 24, 20251 yr Great #1, shame about APT. been stuck behind Gracie for a long time, I just knew back at the end of last year when Messy was released a sure #1 contender for the new year. Hope it stays there for another week or 2.
