Following the same structure used in the Dance and Electronic forum, we are going to run the same weekly poll for new pop and country releases in 2025. Each week, 8 new releases are selected to go head to head, with one weekly winner which will then go up against future weekly winners later in the year at the end of each quarter of the year, and then again at the end of the year to determine the ultimate winner of 2025.

Last week's results;

Kylie Minogue x YouNotUs – Someone For Me [ 5 ] ** [22.73%]

Michael Marcagi – Midwest Kid [ 4 ] ** [18.18%]

Zoe Wees – Traitor [ 4 ] ** [18.18%]

Bradley Simpson – Carpet Burn [ 3 ] ** [13.64%]

Marshmello & Jonas Brothers – Slow Motion [ 3 ] ** [13.64%]

Cher Lloyd – Head Down [ 2 ] ** [9.09%]

Craig David – SOS [ 1 ] ** [4.55%]

Cian Ducrot – Who's Making You Feel It [ 0 ] ** [0.00%]

Kylie gets the win this week with her re-worked Tension II track Someone For Me courtesy of a remix by YouNotUs.

This week's rankings;

1. Mabel & King Promise – All Over You

2. Kane Brown & Jelly Roll – Haunted

3. Tom Walker – You'll Get There In The End

4. Mike Posner – Is It Just Me?

5. Lauren Spencer Smith – Pray

6. Tate McRae – Sports car

7. JoJo – Ready To Love

8. Self Esteem – Focus Is Power

Surprised at my choice of #1 this week, and wish in hindsight I had included a couple of other releases this week instead of a couple of these.

All Over You for me, though that's probably that least pop song here :kink:

i would also recommend the following:

Chloe Qisha – 21st Century Cool Girl

SIENNA SPIRO – BUTTERFLY EFFECT

Nessa Barrett – DOES GOD CRY?

Ellie Dixon – Guts

surprised Nessa Barrett isn't here :kink: Chloe Qisha another interesting omission :unsure:

I'm offended you've got them mixed up!

I suppose I'll go for Tate, would probably usually be Self Esteem but this song isn't exactly great.

Gonna review them like I'm a d-list celeb reviewing the singles on Smash Hits;

JoJo – Ready To Love 5/10

Compared to other Post Blackground songs it's kinda safe. The chorus is catchy though - and love the vocals.

Kane Brown & Jelly Roll – Haunted 2/10

Dear Straight Male Country singers... Can you come up with something else? Instrumental is good though. It's got "Traitors" background music written all over it. Beyoncé still owns the best song called "Haunted"

Lauren Spencer Smith – Pray 5/10

A fabulous Chorus! Needs Choir/Gospel though, 'cos it's not packing the punch is could deliver.

Mabel & King Promise – All Over You 5/10

It's okay. the chorus is such an earworm.

Mike Posner – Is It Just Me? 7/10

Oh okay. This is kinda fun. Those vocals on that beat are lovely! I haven't listened to a Mike Ponser song since Ibiza, and I ended up despising that song. This gives Jonas Brothers with a bit of Justin Bieber during his Purpose era.

Self Esteem – Focus Is Power 8/10

This is gorgeous! Lauren take note, this is how you deliver a Chorus! I'm so excited for the rest of album now. (side note; is there a camp-pop-off remix of this? if not - get someone on it now!)

Tate McRae – Sports car 8/10

Omg! An upbeat pop song? In January? It's giving 'Buttons' by Pussycat Dolls. And we LOVE a whispered chorus! It does feel a little one note after a while, I feel like it could go off for the final part.

Tom Walker – You'll Get There In The End 0/10

No.

Pick It Up: Self Esteem - Focus Is Power I was taken to church, I feel like I can do anything now. Thanks Self Esteem! :wub:

Smash It: Tom Walker - You'll Get There In The End Tom has a lovely voice, obviously - but I'm so bored of this kind of half-ass-piano-ballad rubbish. :puke2:

To most of the entries this week I present this video:

Michael marcagi deserved last week, I wish I saw the poll lol. I adore his one. Tate wins this eeek easily, I am obsessed. Though Mabel is brilliant too, love her new one

1 JoJo

2 Mabel

3 Self Esteem

4 Tate McRae

5 Mike Posner

6 Kane Brown

7 Tom Walker

8 Lauren Spencer Smith

Nothing I'll be revisiting again but the top 3 were decent (although agreed with what a lot of people have said that this is an underwhelming direction for Self Esteem to go in). Really not getting much from Tate's recent singles and honestly think this is the weakest of the 3, shame as I loved 'greedy' and 'exes'.
