Posted February 10Feb 10 In lieu of the previous SyncTube sessions' weekly polls cutting each week's songs down to a list of 10 options to vote for because no one volunteered to do the work to make such curated lists, for our Hot 100 #1s marathon I'm just going to post one of these threads each week allowing people to vote for whichever songs they want from the full list x If you don't know what the above sentence is referring to don't worry, this thread is open to participation from anyone (although we're always open to new participants at our weekly listening sessions x), just post in the thread with up to 5 favourites and, if you want, up to 3 least favourites from the below song list. The song with the most favourite nods will get a play at the start of next week's session (and the song with the most least favourite nods will just have a permanent place on a wall of shame for funziez). Sooo at the time I actually declared the winner of the poll I thought it'd be safe to assume any further votes wouldn't change it as EMF's 'Unbelievable' had a 3 vote lead over its closest competitors. Then there proceeded to be 4 more voters, all of which snubbed EMF while 3/4 voted for P.M. Dawn's 'Set Adrift On Memory Bliss' which had been one of the songs 3 votes behind, so it ends up being a tie :ph34r: I'll still count EMF as the canonical winner anyhoo xx Both of those songs finished with 9 votes and Madonna's 'Justify My Love' completed the podium with 8 votes. At one point during the week 18 session it appeared that the worst poll's winner was going to be a tie for the first time, but another late voter restored the song that was winning at the time I started the session, Michael Bolton's 'When A Man Loves A Woman' with 10 votes, putting the would-be tied leader Stevie B back to 2nd place on 9 votes for 'Because I Love You (The Postman Song)'. Completing a runaway top 3 with 8 votes was Color Me Badd's 'I Adore Mi Amor' with 8 votes, the next most being just 2 votes. Both once again contain exactly 40 songs which seems to be the sweet spot for running to just under 3 hours, although the second poll is only actually covering 37 #1s as it includes the return of double A-Side #1s of which there are three (by 2Pac, Toni Braxton and Elton John). The week 18 poll covers the 762nd through 801st #1s, from the start of December 1991 (Michael Jackson's 'Black Or White') to late September 1995 (Coolio's 'Gangsta's Paradise' (feat. L.V.)) while week 19 covers the 802nd through 838th #1s, from the end of September 1995 (Mariah Carey's 'Fantasy') to early February 1999 (Britney Spears' '...Baby One More Time'). It's come to something when Mariah Carey made one of the 5 best tracks (2 if you count non-topper-yet All I Want For Xmas). There are a handful of great rap/r'n'b tracks here that just fall short for me.
