In lieu of the previous SyncTube sessions' weekly polls cutting each week's songs down to a list of 10 options to vote for because no one volunteered to do the work to make such curated lists, for our Hot 100 #1s marathon I'm just going to post one of these threads each week allowing people to vote for whichever songs they want from the full list x

If you don't know what the above sentence is referring to don't worry, this thread is open to participation from anyone (although we're always open to new participants at our weekly listening sessions x), just post in the thread with up to 5 favourites and, if you want, up to 3 least favourites from the below song list. The song with the most favourite nods will get a play at the start of next week's session (and the song with the most least favourite nods will just have a permanent place on a wall of shame for funziez).

Last week's double bill poll produced 2 clear winners and 2 ties (one each for the best and worst polls). For week 18, Coolio's 'Gangsta's Paradise' (feat. L.V.) easily ran away with best of the week picking up 10 votes, 4 clear of its closest competition, a tie on 6 votes each for Ini Kamoze's 'Here Comes The Hotstepper' and Seal's 'Kiss From A Rose'. Week 19 on the other hand had very spread out votes and the last set of votes from Julian made it a tie for the lead on just 6 votes apiece for Britney Spears' '...Baby One More Time' and Blackstreet's 'No Diggity' (feat. Dr. Dre and Queen Pen). The flash tiebreak vote on SyncTube was the closest one of those has been to date but Blackstreet prevailed 4-3. The bronze medal was also a tie on 5 votes each for Brandy and Monica's 'The Boy Is Mine' and 2Pac's 'California Love' (feat. Dr. Dre and Roger Troutman). It was week 19 that had the clear winner in the worst poll as Céline Dion and R. Kelly picked up 9 votes for 'I'm Your Angel' (I expect this would be getting hate even without Kelly's involvement), with Boyz II Men filling out the podium, '4 Seasons Of Loneliness' 2nd with 5 votes and 'One Sweet Day' (with Mariah Carey) 3rd with 4 votes. Week 18's worst poll finally produces a tie, and I'm not bothering to break ties for the worst poll so Boyz II Men can claim a victory there with 'On Bended Knee', joint with Michael Jackson's 'You Are Not Alone' on 4 votes each (the latter of course written by R. Kelly, though he missed the podium with his own #1 from that week). Michael thus joins Stevie Wonder in having won both polls. Joint 3rd place all on 3 votes were Silk's 'Freak Me', Whitney Houston's 'I Will Always Love You', Boyz II Men again with 'I'll Make Love To You' and Céline Dion again with 'The Power Of Love'.

My votes for this week:

Best:

Mary J. Blige - Family Affair

OutKast - Ms. Jackson

Shaggy - It Wasn't Me (feat. Ricardo "RikRok" Ducent)

TLC - No Scrubs

Vertical Horizon - Everything You Want

Just missing out: 'Try Again', 'Independent Women Part I', 'Genie In A Bottle', 'Butterfly', 'How You Remind Me' and a shoutout to 'Be With You' as a surprisingly good discovery considering I'm not too keen on Enrique in general.

Worst:

Cher - Believe

Creed - With Arms Wide Open

Mariah Carey - Thank God I Found You (feat. Joe and 98°)

Matchbox Twenty avoid this list for at least having a good instrumental. I nearly put TLC on both lists also, not a fan of 'Unpretty'.

Best:

Aaliyah - Try Again

Janet Jackson - Doesn't Really Matter

Lonestar - Amazed

Matchbox Twenty - Bent

Santana - Maria Maria (feat. The Product G&B)

Worst:

Mariah Carey - Heartbreaker (feat. JAY-Z)

Mariah Carey - Thank God I Found You (feat. Joe and 98°)

Best:

Aaliyah - Try Again

Christina Aguilera - Genie In A Bottle

Jennifer Lopez - If You Had My Love

OutKast - Ms. Jackson

Ricky Martin - Livin' La Vida Loca

Worst:

Creed - With Arms Wide Open

Mariah Carey - Thank God I Found You (feat. Joe and 98°)

Nickelback - How You Remind Me

Actually looking back at it this is much stronger than most of the ‘90s sessions - at least some of the really dominant acts like Santana and Destiny’s Child were good.

Best:

Aaliyah - Try Again

Christina Aguilera - Genie In A Bottle

Madonna - Music

OutKast - Ms. Jackson

Mary J. Blige - Family Affair

Commiserations:

Alicia Keys - Fallin'

Crazy Town - Butterfly

Destiny's Child - Say My Name

Nickelback - How You Remind Me

TLC - No Scrubs

Worst:

Mariah Carey - Thank God I Found You (feat. Joe and 98°)

SisQó - Incomplete

Will Smith - Wild Wild West (feat. Dru Hill and Kool Moe Dee)

Actually there’s much less rubbish here - the Will Smith track isn’t all that bad.

Fallin'

worst

Best:

Aaliyah - Try Again

Christina Aguilera - Genie In A Bottle

Mary J. Blige - Family Affair

OutKast - Ms. Jackson

TLC - No Scrubs

Worst:

Creed - With Arms Wide Open

Mariah Carey - Thank God I Found You (feat. Joe and 98°)

Sisqó - Incomplete

Best: much better list than the last motley crew, and Matchbox 20 only just miss out here as the US started to have some great chart-toppers that flopped in the UK

TLC - Unpretty

Cher - Believe

Santana - Smooth (feat. Rob Thomas)

Enrique Iglesias - Be With You

Mary J. Blige - Family Affair

Worst: unusually every track made my own charts and I liked them all at least a bit so I can only nominate the one that gets on my nerves these days, from unnecessary overplay when there's a way-better cover already existing, and a great original better than any cover:

Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mýa and P!nk - Lady Marmalade

Cher - Believe

Christina Aguilera - Genie In A Bottle

Destiny's Child - Bootylicious

OutKast - Ms. Jackson

TLC - No Scrubs

Creed - With Arms Wide Open

Mariah Carey - Thank God I Found You (feat. Joe and 98°)

SisQó - Incomplete

Best:

Alicia Keys - Fallin'

Cher - Believe

Lonestar - Amazed

Madonna - Music

OutKast - Ms. Jackson

Just missing out: 'Try Again', 'Family Affair', 'No Scrubs'

Worst - looks like a popular selection:

Creed - With Arms Wide Open

Mariah Carey - Thank God I Found You

SisQó - Incomplete
