Really? That's someone else besides Lizzo that I also thought had been cancelled. His latest releases don't even make NMF let alone chart!

I think she was dismissed from the case so "won" essentially. I'm not sure what public opinion on Lizzo is now though as it did taint her somewhat? She did a nice interview with Keke Palmer in Decembe

Always with the binaries. Her last album debuted at #2 in the US & Aus, and #6 in the UK. That's a fanbase.

Spotify Chart Update (25/02)

101 115 Leon Thomas – MUTT 99,932 PEAK

loving this trend of Disney / Nickelodeon stars having their first chart success a whole decade after their debut release.

also, correct me if I’m wrong but if this goes top 40 eventually, "Victorious" would be the first US Nick/Disney show/film to produce two acts with a top 40 hit (not associated with the show/film) in the UK since the "Camp Rock" with Demi and all of the Jonas'?

The three stars of "High School Musical" who released solo music (Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu and Vanessa Hudgens) never went higher than #86 (Tisdale's pop punk cover of “Kiss the Girl”), so Zac Efron's contributions towards "The Greatest Showman" remain that franchise stars only solo chart success.

The reboot series ("High School Musical: The Musical: The Series") did spawn Olivia Rodrigo and for a while there it did look like Joshua Bassett could’ve followed suit but that clearly fizzled out fast. I wonder how he feels being the only part of the “drivers license” love triangle drama NOT to be a global superstar.

Was it the songs he released last year after J. Christ tanked? Those were SoundCloud exclusives so I don't think they are even on any non-SC streamer.

Plus the label seems invested in this one (it has a Pharrell sample and I imagine those aren’t cheap). At worst it's probably doing to the same tankery as J. Christ did 14 months ago.

They are on my Spotify, Need that boy, Light again.

They just flopped cos the label didn't push them but they were fully available.

Yeah I'm not sure they were proper singles, just tracks thrown out there. It sounds like this one will be given a proper push - although his hype does seem to have totally evaporated from 3 years ago so I'm still not expecting it to do much.

Both of them could do well but likewise if they missed the top 40 I wouldn’t be surprised

Lizzo has no fanbase, all her songs did nothing at first, then blew on tiktok and became hits

That J Christ song was a career killer for L nas X

A good day for Olivia Dean:

⬆️ #71 It Isn't Perfect But It Might Be (from "Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy" Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

#184 Dive

I'd already forgotten that she charted with a Christmas song a few years ago.

Not like us definitely on the decline now, if it holds on to #1 officially tomorrow will definitely be its last week

Should be but then what else will replace it? Pink Pony isn’t going huge numbers either

In my opinion she doesn't have. big fanbase cos it took ages for all her songs to be hits and it was only after going viral on tiktok that then the GP jumps on. for me that's the definition of someone without a huge fanbase.

Maybe something reset after the Brit Awards could get to number 1 next week, assuming there is no big release. Messy, perhaps?

Just realised who Leon Thomas is. Will go listen to this song.

I am assuming the other person from Victorious to have a Top 40 hit is Ariana Grande?

Asking as I only recently watched Victorious on Netflix and surprised that Victoria Justice didn't get any chart success out of it.

Don't forget the Brits on Saturday may have some effect on next weeks charts.

Hopefully JADE re-entering the chart in the top 3 with Angel Of My Dreams.
