Five Reunion J Abz Sean Ritchie Scott Biggest Songs Greatest Hits.jpg

Link

With 11 Top 10 singles, four Top 10 albums and a BRIT Award to their name, Five were one of the UK's biggest boy bands of the '90s and early noughties. And now, the lads are back together.

The group - Abz Love, Ritchie Neville, Jason 'J' Brown, Sean Conlon and Scott Robinson - return as a five-piece for the first time in 25 years; announcing their Keep On Movin' 2025 arena tour.

So, in celebration, we thought it about time we revealed Five's Official biggest songs for the first time ever.

Before we get into the Top 10, let's take a closer look at their three biggest hits in the UK.

3. Everybody Get Up

Released: 1998

Official Singles Chart peak: Number 2

UK chart units: 465,000

The fourth single lifted from the band's self-titled debut album Five, Everybody Get Up comes in at Number 3 on the lift; shifting a total of 465,000 chart units to date. At the time, it earned the band their highest-charting track, peaking at Number 2 and spending 19 weeks on the Official Singles Chart.

Everybody Get Up has amassed 18.6 million combined UK audio and video streams; becoming the lads' second most-streamed song of all time.

Fun fact: the track credits Alan Merrill and Jake Hooker as songwriters, since it contains a sample of Joan Jett & The Blackhearts' I Love Rock 'N Roll.

2. Got The Feelin'

Released: 1998

Official Singles Chart peak: Number 3

UK chart units: 510,000

Another track from their debut, Got The Feelin' was co-written by Five alongside Richard Stannard and Julian Gallagher. The song spent 13 weeks on the Official Singles Chart, with streams of 12 million and counting in the UK.

1. Keep On Movin'

Released: 1999

Official Singles Chart peak: Number 1

UK chart units: 1.4 million

The first of Five's three Official Number 1 singles, Keep On Movin' is officially the boys' biggest single to date. The second single from their second studio album Invincible, Keep On Movin' has shifted 1.4 million UK chart units since its 1999 release, and is also far and away their most-streamed song ever, with 87.4 combined audio and video streams.

Five's Official Top 10 biggest songs in the UK

1 KEEP ON MOVIN' - No. 1 - 1999

2 GOT THE FEELIN' - No. 3 - 1998

3 EVERYBODY GET UP - No. 2 - 1998

4 IF YA GETTIN' DOWN - No. 2 - 1999

5 LET'S DANCE - No. 1 - 2001

6 WE WILL ROCK YOU (Five + Queen) - No. 1 - 2000

7 UNTIL THE TIME IS THROUGH - No. 2 - 1998

8 WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT - No. 4 - 1998

9 SLAM DUNK (DA FUNK) - No. 10 - 1997

10 CLOSER TO ME - No. 4 - 2001

Not surprised at "Got The Feelin'" being their second best seller. That and B*Witched "C'est La Vie" were on constant rotation for me that summer, I had the cassette singles of both!

Pretty flawless singles run really when you look at it. Buzzing for the tour!

I was gonna say that their three singles prior to "Keep On Movin'" were an unlucky run. Although that said, it was only with "If Ya Gettin' Down" that they were truly in with a shot of being number o

I was gonna say that their three singles prior to "Keep On Movin'" were an unlucky run.

Although that said, it was only with "If Ya Gettin' Down" that they were truly in with a shot of being number one, it was number one all week until Ricky Martin took a last minute surge of 3,900 copies on the Saturday (as he had done the week before with Steps and "Love's Got a Hold On My Heart", which had also been midweek number one).

With "Everybody Get Up" they were #2 on 82,000 copies - just over 34,500 behind All Saints who were number one with "Bootie Call" that week (which I bought that week - so I was partly responsible for that happening!), and with "Until the Time Is Through" they were #2 on 84,000 and were 55k+ behind Cher with "Believe" on its fifth week, so were never in contention for the top those times.

Some of it was also owing to the fact they priced all said singles at £3.99 first week - All Saints for example were £1.99 with "Bootie Call" in that week so they sold more on the strength of that (it fell to #7 a week later).

The one instance where they were lucky to be #1 was with "We Will Rock You", as Ronan Keating "Life Is A Rollercoaster" which they knocked off the top from the previous week had a big chunk of its original CD1 sales disqualified - over 100k - because they broke chart regulations on having a CD-Rom video featured on it but not of the actual song. Had it not been disqualified, that would have missed out.

i do remember hating the acts that priced at £3.99 opening week!

I think Everybody Get Up is my fave Five single.

Hoping to get tickets for Cardiff when they go on sale next week.

Oh same. S Club 7 used to do it as well and I always remember thinking it cost them several number ones!

I was a little surprised to see Got the Feelin' in second place actually! Ahead of two of their #1s and three #2s. But I just looked back at its first week sales and how much it sold in 1998, and it did very well. 114k first week and 375k overall that year.

It seems like it was unfortunate timing that it went against two Football songs during Euro 1998. A week earlier, B*Witched were #1 (second week) with C'est La Vie on 93,000 sales!

1- 3 LIONS 98- Baddiel/ Skinner/ Lightning Seeds (232,075)

2- VINDALOO- Fat Les (186,000)

3- GOT THE FEELING- Five (114,000)

I also wasn't expecting to see Everybody Get Up in third, but as the article mentions it's their second most streamed song in the UK (and 50.6m worldwide on Spotify!). It sold 224k in the UK in 1998. A bit less than All Saints - Bootie Call on 236,000. All Saints won the battle but Five ultimately won the war and outsold them... Bootie Call isn't gold yet, and its worldwide Spotify stream total is a relatively modest 5.2m.

My favourite song of Five's is If Ya Gettin' Down! They have a very solid singles run overall, and of course Keep on Movin' is a classic. I thought Keep on Movin' might have had a stronger chart run than 1-3-6-8 while in the Top 10, but the charts were often so fast moving.

Everybody get up is by far my fave single from them followed by got the feeling and keep on movin.

Best of luck to them on the reunion, i never expected to ever see all 5 of them back on stage together again and by all accounts they got well screwed over financially back in the day so hopefully they can make a nice few quid from this as small compensation.

I was gonna say the unfortunate timing of the 3 Lions 98 / Vindaloo duopoly was what scuppered "Got The Feelin'" - but it did have a very good chart run nonetheless.

A channel I'm subscribed to on YouTube uploaded their performance of it from TOTP the other day (and all their others) and they're all wearing different World Cup related football strips to tie into it being on at the time. It's one of my lasting memories of that song!

"Don't Wanna Let You Go" is the only single of theirs not in their top 10 list so I'm assuming it sold less than "Closer To Me" did?

They also had a couple of cancelled singles: "It's The Things You Do" was meant to come out here March 1999 following it's release in the States the previous October.

"Two Sides To Every Story" was also meant to be a single after "We Will Rock You" in October 2000 to time with their live DVD coming out as well.

Keep On Movin' is a banger. Think I might give their back catalogue a listen

I think my top 3 would be Keep On Movin’ (classic!), Got The Feeling then When The Lights Go Out.

They had some right catchy pop songs!

Its The Things You Do would have been big if released !!
