Noooo so close to the top 20 cry

'An Honest Mistake' is a belter. I'm a huge fan of post-punk / new wave music and this feels like a 2000s update on those kind of influences.

I only recently found out that the lead singer of The Bravery was involved with writing 'She Wolf' by Shakira!

I really like that Gossip song as well.

Everybody Hurts is one of my favourite songs by probably my favourite band ever. It’s also massively important to my wife and I. It was there for us during our baby son’s long illness and, after it h

VOTING IS NOW CLOSED Thanks to the 43 people who voted. That's eight more than in the number 6 single final last year. The results will start later this week.

Always loved 'An Honest Mistake', it's one of the defining indie songs of the 2000s decade for sure!

😮

An Honest Mistake was my favourite single of 2005, definitely a highlight of the 00s and I’m glad it’s done well here - although top 20 would have been better!

I always really liked the video for it too

Le Freak was the third of five top 10 hits for Chic from 1977 to 1979 when disco music was at its most popular. It was the first single to top the Billboard chart three separate times. Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers wrote the song after being refused entry to the Studio 54 nightclub in New York by doormen who had not been made aware of Grace Jones' invitation.

This was the second single from the Russian duo's second album '200 km/h In The Wrong Lane', the first by them in the English language. It finishes two places lower than it did in the recent Trevor Horn Rate which I also hosted.

Oh I would have loved to be involved with that, I have always been a TH fan! Is it archived somewhere?

'Le Freak' is good but I only scored it relatively low because there was so much competition.

The other two are great!

Standing In The Way... is such a great song, at least it's in the top half. Good to see Chic top 20 but surprised to see the Kooks that low! The Tatu one was terrible on first listen, do not get the appeal at all.

Two of my top 5 out yesterday - The Kooks were hardly groundbreaking but that is one of my favourite singles of the 2000s. 'Le Freak' is a classic of disco, not only for the musical genius of Nile and Bernard, but also the lyrics about hedonistic dancing which disguise a darker meaning.

From 2003, this was the third of four top 10 hits for the Arkansas band. We've already had Al Green and Gossip from Arkansas in this final. As well as their debut album 'Fallen', the song was included on the soundtrack to the film 'Daredevil'. It was written by Amy Lee and Ben Moody when they were just fifteen years old.

15. Lady Gaga - Alejandro 1183pts

Writers - Stefani Germanotta, Nadir Khayat

Top scores - GreyAsh 49, ...ready for it 49, Lee_J11 49

Low scores - Dante77 1, King Rollo 4, detonate 4

Average score - 27.5

From 2010, Alejandro was Lady Gaga's sixth top 10 hit. The three scores of 49 points mean it wins a tie-break over We Didn't Start The Fire.

'Alejandro' is one of my favourite Gaga singles!

I think some of The Fame hasn't aged brilliantly but the darker Fame Monster stuff generally has.

My Immortal is great, the band version is the best version. We Didn't Start The Fire is a classic and is much loved in our house as it helps with history revision 😁 Much prefer Gaga's other Fame singles but Alejandro is still good.

Three excellent songs in that batch!

'My Immortal' is just sublime - the single version in particular. Love the haunting melody and vocals, and then when the guitars come in it really HITS.

'We Didn't Start The Fire' is a lot of fun, always enjoy hearing that.

'Alejandro' is Gaga at her absolute finest, I could never tire of it ❤️

I'd very much agree with this!

My top 2 out today - but at least they made the top 20. ‘My Immortal’ is one of my all time favourites - I first heard it in the Daredevil film and bought the soundtrack as soon as I could. One of the best film soundtracks ever in my opinion.
