From Annie's debut album Anniemal comes this wonderful slice of Norwegian electropop. It's an album I still play from time to time and 'Me Plus One' is undoubtedly one of the highlights on it!

Kudos to you for including it on your synthpop album, it is absolutely ludicrous that this wasn't a single. I probably gave the game away on the listenthrough anyway where I got too excited not to relay the industry story that the song is about Geri Halliwell not being handed Some Girls (which was instead given to Rachel Stevens). The 'wannabe senorita' indeed!

An artist I hadn't previously heard of, this is a slick slice of noughties R&B. I can't find anything about her on Wikipedia and she only has one song on Spotify (not this one) so she is definitely the most obscure artist sent to the contest!

Wow I was sure Gooddelta was Same Difference because one of the videos for it on YouTube was loaded by someone with the same name!

I thought Rich sent them too because of Alcazar, but after the posts earlier sending Annie made a lot of sense!

I did upload the track onto YouTube when it first leaked, and the video has 44k views or something (surprised the band didn't ask for it to be taken down).

Funnily enough, I did think about sending it but then remembered it came top five in BJSC (granted a long time ago), so discarded it. Obviously a brilliant track and gobsmacked that it wasn't a single, imagine leaving that sitting on your album.

My fears may be realised, that's not the best start for my track to say the least!

So apparently there is some meme relating to M83 not existing which is completely lost on me, but I can confirm that they very much do exist and this track is the closing track (hence very appropriately named) on their 6th studio album Hurry Up We're Dreaming.

Ooh first shock reveal for me, that throws my other guesses well out. Funny uhsting gave the song I thought was theirs 12 though. Poor Annie on nul points 😭

Oh I didn’t have Jack down for M83 at all - thought Jim was a good shout. Great pick anyway.

But I thought I was supposed to have sent nothing M83!

I haven’t finished top 10 in Bop Idol yet so fingers crossed for third time lucky!

The Annie song was a great discovery (got to love the Geri lore) and I recognised the M83 song, probably from use in media, but didn’t know who it was by / what it was called until now.

So this is a track from some obscure US singer called Madonna and it appears on her eighth album Music. One of many songs she co-wrote with William Orbit, 'Amazing' was actually briefly released as a promotional single in selected territories before being quickly withdrawn.

Commiserations Dido (I never recovered from my uni housemates playing that album non-stop in 2001).

My +12 is a great accompaniment to 'Good Fortune' which is one of my favourite singles of the decade (I actually considered the more poppy 'You Said Something' from the same album for this contest).
