Chocolate and controversy wasn't doing it for the majority in the last round with Bag it up being the third casualty, time to drop that baby.

Bag it up was Geri's third solo #1 following up for a solo performance at the Brit Awards where she was reborn from a giant pair of inflatable legs. To this day, Geri remains the only girl to be given a solo slot at the Brit Awards, she also picked up more nominations than any of the other girls with 4 Brit nominations to her name (Melanie C and Mel B both have 1 a piece). Bag it up spent 1 week at #1 and went on to become her fourth certified single with sales of over 260,000 to it's name. Geri truly was on the top with her solo career in the UK at this point with her album having also claimed sales over 400k.

Before this round, I was fully intending to vote I want you back however I fell into a bit of a rabbit hole with the song this week and rediscovered my love for it. Therefore I've switched to giving my vote to Geri (again eek) and her cover of It's raining men. I have to state I do love the cover though and much prefer it to the shrieking version of The Weather Girls.

I Want You Back is such a f***ing great song! It is one of my most listened to Spice-related tracks.

Plus, THAT VIDEO IS A CLASSIC!!!

I would comfortably say that it is the best solo debut song from any of the girls. Better than Look At Me, What I Am, Out of Your Mind and When You're Gone put together!

What a vibe!!

Let's not go too overboard now. I'd give it a solid 3rd best debut. Look at me is the best of all the debuts, even if it's not my personal favourite song (When you're gone is my favourite song but I'd still rate it second best debut).

I will say though., I cannot understand why Mel didn't do more work with Missy on the album!?

Na.... over the years ive come to appreciate When You're Gone but Look At Me is trashy, sorry. It put me off Geri straight away, it sounded just like a marketing gimmick.

When you're gone is gold, it's definitely my favourite of all the debut solo releases, talking about iconic videos, THAT is an iconic 90's video! I just love it, makes me so nostalgic.

I agree Geri's was very gimmicky but it was a great pop gimmick which worked on Geri's limited performance capabilities very well. Geri's whole career was very much a creative spin, she marketed herself very well which is why she had the most commercial success really.
