Can’t get too carried away by the opening week but wolves and Burnley do look like they’re going down

Haha, there's always so much hyperbole over the first weekend. City will be favourites to win the league now based off one weekend. Like always with City, and most of the big clubs, you have to score when you score when you are on top.

  • Poor guy, has the PL managerial legacy of Frank De Boer now.

  • City at 5-2 is seriously tempting with Rodri back, a slew of new signings and ZERO chance of any points deductions.

Could be hyperbole but they both look so bad. Sunderland have spent a lot they have a real chance of staying up so we might get at least 1 proper relegation this year and wolves look like the prime candidate

Burnley are a waste of space tbh. They don't add anything to the league which is why it's quite annoying how they frequently get promoted whenever they are in The Championship, they are not an exciting team to watch and they do not make the league more competitive. No doubt they will be relegated again this season before bouncing back the following season. If only it were possible to ban certain teams from entering the Premier League lol.

Saying that about Burnley, I honestly believe that they aren't the least inspiring team this year. West Ham's performance today was abysmal and is indicative of their season ahead because the lack of signings is going to catch up with them pretty quickly.

It happens it’s day one, sometimes games like this kick the board in to gear. West Ham were ok, I think going away to a newly promoted team on the first game of the season is always a banana skin waiting to happen.

Burnley not shocked about at all, Parker will be gone by the international October break. For all of their “defensive solidness” they had roughly the same xG as when Kompany took them up. And unlike Leeds and Sunderland their signings are not inspiring at all!

It’s a strange one with Burnley they are the smallest town in England with a pre jet league club so are very well run so fair play to them. It’s more the parachute payments which are on show when teams bounce up and down. If they don’t come back within 2 seasons that’s them down for a while. Look at West Brom as an example.

As I said in another thread just realised Brownhill was released which is a strange one as he’s their best player and captain last year,

Man City are gonna batter teams this season, they're out for blood after the rubbish year they had. Wolves were the unlucky first victims but think they'll be fine. West Ham need to get rid of Potter, such a washed overrated manager.

Yeh why do we doubt Pep lol gone under the radar this summer for me as they began their rebuild in January!

Still don't see it with City myself, but maybe I'll think differently if they blow away Spurs next weekend. There is a huge problem in their defence, especially at right back and when Stones inevitably gets injured again. Simialr to Liverpool.

But it is interesting both Liverpool and Man City seem to be going for the all out attack method.

Wolves once again have been stripped of their two best assets so it difficult for them!

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo on relationship with Evangelos Marinakis:

"I always had a very good relationship with the owner, last season we were very close and spoke on a daily basis.

"This season it is not so well [between us] but I always believe that dialogue is important because my concern is the squad and the season we have ahead of us. Our relationship has changed and we are not as close."

Looks like he'll be the first manager to get sacked this season!

@Dobbo

The owner would be an fool if they did in my view.
