Voter 12: Brer

Brer originally attempted to send Escala’s cover of “Aerodynamic” by Daft Punk, which I haven’t heard but sounds interesting.

Tokio Myers’ “Bloodstream” is a standout track from his 2017 debut album Our Generation. The song is a genre-blending reinterpretation that fuses classical, electronic, and pop elements, showcasing Myers’ signature style as a pianist and producer.

🎵 Song Summary:

  • Origin: “Bloodstream” is a cover and reimagining of the Ed Sheeran song of the same name, originally co-written by Sheeran, Johnny McDaid, and members of Rudimental. Tokio Myers’ version also incorporates elements of Claude Debussy’s “Clair de Lune”, creating a unique classical-electronic hybrid

  • Musical Style: The track features dramatic piano arrangementsorchestral swells, and electronic beats, building a cinematic atmosphere. Myers layers these elements to create emotional tension and release, reflecting the song’s themes of inner turmoil and emotional intensity.

  • Vocals: While Ed Sheeran’s original version is vocal-driven, Myers’ take is largely instrumental, with uncredited backing vocals from Sheeran himself

  • Performance: Tokio Myers performed “Bloodstream” on America’s Got Talent: The Champions, where he impressed audiences with his one-man-band setup, blending live piano, synths, and percussion in real time

  • Album Context: “Bloodstream” was released as the lead single from Our Generation, which debuted in November 2017 and reached #4 on the UK Albums Chart. The album blends classical training with modern production, reflecting Myers’ background and innovative approach to music

3 Daithí - Chameleon Life (feat. Raye)

2 Dannii Minogue - Creep

1 Escala - Kashmir (feat. Slash)

Typical that my favourite is the one song that's not on Spotify (and apparently only just removed, hopefully it'll be back soon) -_-

My original entry choice btw was Escala's version of Daft Punk's 'Aerodynamic' - 'Kashmir' is good too but I do feel like it's a little too close to the original to really stand out that much so apols for it ending up with only a mealworm point from me! Meanwhile I just switched over to the other big instrumental BGT act hehe.

Bray’s votes extend the lead a little for Agnes, while his 12 races Ruti into the Top 10.

Daithí’s “Chameleon Life” is a vibrant, genre-blending single released in 2013, featuring vocals by Raye. It marked a turning point in the Irish electronic artist’s career, showcasing his ability to merge live instrumentation—notably his fiddle—with electronic pop production.

🎵 Song Summary:

  • Theme: “Chameleon Life” is about embracing change, spontaneity, and living in the moment. The lyrics touch on themes of youth, freedom, and transformation, aligning with the metaphor of a chameleon adapting to its surroundings.

  • Musical Style:

    • Combines EDM textures with pop melodies and live violin loops.

    • Features sunny synthsbouncy rhythms, and a euphoric chorus delivered by Raye.

    • The track has been described as Calvin Harris-esque, but with a more organic, indie-electronic twist.

  • Background:

    • Interestingly, the song was written during a cold Irish winter, despite its summery vibe.

    • Daithí collaborated with Ian Ring (of Young Wonder) during the production process, aiming to create something uplifting and accessible without relying on typical dance music clichés.

  • Reception:

    • Widely praised in Irish music circles for its catchiness and crossover potential.

    • Though it didn’t chart internationally, it received significant airplay in Ireland and helped establish Daithí as a rising name in electronic music.

And in time honoured TV talent show tradition, the results of the Rolloland jury are…

to be revealed after the break!

I didn't know the song before the contest. I didn't think I'd like anything by an artist from one of the well known talent shows so I went hunting for something else. Thanks to all those who have given points to 'Chameleon Life' so far, especially Chris for the 12.

Oh my, I had no idea someone else was after Escala, sorry about that Bre, but at least it led to one of my favourites from the contest x I'm quite intrigued to hear their cover of Aerodynamic (they also had a version of Clubbed to Death on their album which was interesting).

Thank you so much for these generous votes, amazed to be 2nd atm!

Cody not behind ‘Damaged’ is a shocker, I lost my bet!!!

And glad to see things being so close at the top, anyone really can grab this at this point!!!

Agreed. Although Scene being behind them isn't as shocking as Mango being behind ONLY THE YOUNG!!!!!! to me.

I was still certain it wasn't going to be anyone other than Cody!

Funny that because Mango is the only one I’ve predicted correctly. 😂 (though not sure what my thought process was there).

Thanks to those of you who’ve given Danity Kane points so far! It really would’ve smashed back in 2008 if pushed in the UK!

Edit: just realised I got Wardy right too!
