  • OK I think I’ll do Part II tomorrow and give those who haven’t been following a chance to catch up too. Thanks all for tuning in and commenting. I promise it’s going to be a nail biter!

  • “Borderline” had an impressive 18 voters of a possible 22. “I Trance” had….. …also 18 voters! Meaning we need to go to the number of sets of 12 points awarded.

Whatever you decide Julian. I'll probably turn in soon anyway, but I wouldn't be around tomorrow evening to follow along, so it makes little difference to me.

Thanks Julian, looking forward to it (and hoping to end proceedings on more than 6 points, it's a far better song than that).

y'all BONES for keeping me at zero nono

I am so chuffed that Fleur is Top 10, and has been quite steady inside it throughout - even going as high as #5.

Not holding my breath, but would be good to finish inside the top reaches of the contest.

Thank you to @awardinary for a 12 points and @Mangø for a 10 points, and the smattering of others who gave Fleur some points so far.

She deserved to be a massive UK pop star, and Baby Don't Dance should have been the follow-up to Sax. Shocker that SyCo handled her career so badly.

I am ready for someone to give me 12 points

Equador’s “Blood” is a haunting and atmospheric track released in 2016 as the lead single from their debut album Bones of Man. The group, formed by Henry Binns (of Zero 7) and Bo Bruce, blends trip-hop, ambient electronica, and soulful vocals to create a cinematic soundscape.

🎵 Song Summary:

  • Theme: “Blood” explores the intensity and vulnerability of a passionate relationship. The lyrics suggest a willingness to embrace emotional pain and uncertainty for the sake of deep connection. Lines like “Taste the blood in my spit / Between the cracks of my lips” evoke raw, visceral imagery that reflects emotional exposure and longing.

  • Musical Style:

    • Begins with a pulsing, heartbeat-like rhythm, gradually building into a lush, layered arrangement.

    • Features joint male-female vocals, with Bo Bruce taking the lead as the track progresses.

    • The final section transitions into a soaring choral and instrumental climax, fading into an ethereal close.

  • Mood: The song is both melancholic and uplifting, balancing darkness with beauty. It’s ideal for fans of artists like Massive Attack, London Grammar, or Zero 7.

Clear air at the moment between the top 2 and the rest, and Christina is finally off the mark!

Aiden Grimshaw’s “Misty Eye” is the title track from his 2012 debut album Misty Eye, but it was not released as a standalone single. The album’s official singles were:

  • “Is This Love” – released June 2012

  • “Curtain Call” – released August 2012

🎵 About the Song “Misty Eye”:

Even though it wasn’t a single, “Misty Eye” is a central emotional piece of the album. It features cinematic stringsechoing beats, and a powerful vocal performance that highlights Grimshaw’s ability to convey vulnerability and intensity.

🎧 Lyrical Themes:

The lyrics explore emotional fragility, heartbreak, and resilience. Lines like:

“This paper heart is lost in fire / But I’m not burning”

suggest a struggle between emotional pain and inner strength. The song’s title metaphorically refers to tears or blurred emotional vision, reinforcing the album’s introspective tone.

🎵 Album: Misty Eye

  • Release Date: 20 August 2012

  • Label: RCA / Sony Music

  • Style: A mix of electropopsoul, and drum & bass influences, with emotionally intense lyrics and atmospheric production.

  • Notable Singles:

    • “Is This Love” – a dramatic, high-energy lead single

    • “Curtain Call” – a more melodic, introspective follow-up

The album was praised for its emotional depthvocal performance, and genre-blending production, setting Aiden apart from typical reality TV alumni.
