I realised yesterday that I hadn't actually ever listened to this album beyond its 3 singles so decided to give it a whirl this morning. What an incredible debut this is, showcasing their psychadelic take on alternative music at the time.

I think Time To Pretend is probably one of the best songs ever created. I have never once got bored of it. 4th Dimensional Transition is a highlight from the album tracks.

Kids has recently just passed 1 billion streams on Spotify which is incredible! With everything else on the album now at the tens of millions minimum.

Do you have a favourite track or memory associated with it?

The album was released digitally in late 2007 and physically in early 2008. It reached a peak of #8 in the UK in January 2009 ahead of Time to Pretend's re-release.

1. Time to Pretend

2. Weekend Wars

3. The Youth

4. Electric Feel

5. Kids

6. 4th Dimensional Transition

7. Pieces of What

8. Of Moons, Birds & Monsters

9. The Handshake

10. Future Reflections

We could do a listenthrough if others are up for it.

Would be interested in checking this one out actually. Like all the singles from it!

I bought this but can’t recall anything from it aside from the obvious singles. I don’t think I was that fussed on the rest but would be interesting to revisit it

I borrowed this sometime in 2008/09, but only took the singles away from it. 'Time To Pretend' is fantastic and was in my top 10 songs of the decade when I compiled such a list.

I bought the album at the time and enjoyed it but long term took nothing really away from it apart from time to pretend which is great and kids which is my absolute fave from them.

I played it a lot when it came out, but hadn't listened to the whole album for ages. I ;listened to it this afternoon and it still sounded great. One of many favourite gigs was MGMT on my 50th birthday in 2010.

A classic case of good singles and a not so good album for me.

Yeah, I remember it as the album where the 2nd half isn't as memorable.

But that was years ago. Maybe I think differently about it now. (Haven't relistened yet.)
