I know it’s a bit off-topic but have you heard of iBroadcast? You use their app to upload your MP3s and then you can stream them on the go on your phone.

Thanks for sharing, just looking into this as it would be good to have access to my music collection when at work (and not have to ferry my dying iPod around with me).

I'd be a little bit concerned though that if they ever go out of business you just lose everything uploaded there.

If they decide to include Oasis on Now 122, I hope it’s with either Acquiesce, Slide Away or Champagne Supernova

Yearbook Extra '97 was a slog in places. What a strange tracklist (I heavily praised Extra '98, absolutely loved the choices, sequencing and variety so definitely not being negative for the sake of it).

I just finished listening and it's like a who's who of forgotten (for good reason) pop, the dregs of the back end of Britpop and lots and lots of low charting filler.

The good:

Tomorrow Never Dies - such a soaring film song, forgot how much I like that

Closer Than Close - deserved a spot on the main album!

As Long As You Love Me - ditto, surprised Quit Playing Games got the nod ahead of this on the main album

Where's The Love - Hanson had several strong singles outside the obvious one

Everything I Wanted - love this Dannii era

Don't You Love Me - Eternal with their best era too, this was sublime

Karma Police - also seems weird to leave for the Extra

Second Nature / No Cheap Thrill - had never heard these two low top 40 hits but thoroughly enjoyed them, an unexpected disco feel to the former, the latter is a great singer-songwriter song

Sugar Coated Iceberg - great band

Drop Dead Gorgeous - wonderful track from another great band

Sunday Shining - such a talent and my favourite song by Finley

Reverence - not too familiar with this Faithless song but really liked it - is that Dido on the chorus or someone else?

Clementine - love this Mark Owen song, my favourite solo single from him along with Four Minute Warning

Who Do You Think You Are / Mama - always loved this double a-side

Don't Leave Me - again, not too familiar with BlackSTREET outside of a couple of tracks but this is really good R&B

Ti Amo - Gina G in her La Isla Bonita era

I'm A Man Not A Boy - good forgotten boyband single

Baby Can I Hold You - a lovely version of the song tbf

The bad:

Star People '97 - it's an ok song, but I really wish they'd stop opening with him, just leave it off sometimes. Outside did this sound way better the following year

Isn't It A Wonder - Boyzone's most limp single, it's barely there

I Can Make You Feel Good - I didn't need reminding of this cover

Night Nurse - it's ok I guess but reminds me of a medicine advert...memory unlocked, shouldn't Sly & Robbie be credited for this?

Most of the indie and Britpop on Disc 2 - yawn, filler 3rd and 4th album singles in a lot of places, the trio at the end I didn't enjoy

I Believe In You And Me - not sure this is a great disc starter from Whitney, not exactly a classic

I Don't Want To - a song written and produced by R Kelly, surprised it's even here

Midnight In Chelsea - not for me

Stranger Things - actually this is ok but it didn't even make close to the top 40?

Today's The Day - extremely naff, a one week low top 40 hit - surprised it made the cut

Please Don't Go - a much weaker copycat version of Where Do You Go

Let Me In - an Osmonds cover by an Irish boyband, sounds a familiar tale! Tbf it's fine but that's because the original is strong

Anywhere For You - one of the worst from Backstreet Boys, nondescript

Yesterday - a rather hollow cover of a classic

The lack of dance is weird - no Belissima, Something's Going On, Choose Life, Ecuador or Stay, Freed From Desire, Coco Jamboo, no Tubthumping, Scooby Snacks, Texas or Oasis (I know they struggle with Blur, Pulp and The Verve), no Kylie!! I feel like 1997 overall was really hampered by licensing with others like No Doubt, Daft Punk, U2, Depeche Mode etc also all absent.

I’ve been getting through it in my car. I agree about the end of disc 2-quite dire! It boggles the minds some of the tracks that still didn’t appear on this Extra!

The 98 one was so much more superior. My two favourite 90s years and such different results!

Agreed, they did both the main and Extras of 98 so well, even the smaller hits chosen made so much more sense.

Some of that second disc of 97 Extra really could have been left off. I knew there was a reason I largely switched off from Britpop in 1997, some real autopilot stuff.

Considering they seem to be including ABC on the majority of their compilations, they ignored ABC completely from the 1985 yearbooks and they put ABC’s flop song on extra 1997. I hope they include Be Near Me on one of the 1985-1989 yearbooks and Vanity Kills on vault 1985

If the Demon Hunters compilation keeps increasing in sales, I can see 1976 becoming the second 70s yearbook to miss the top spot on the compilation chart and it could block their pointless 60s soul spin-off from the top too

Now Yearbook 76 is far superior to the TOTP 76 from 2017. That was a triple CD but no Elton & Kiki, Pussycat, Dolly but they had Abba's 3 No.1's. Neither has any Sheer Elegance and they had two hits with one being top 10.

Will be very interesting to see what Extra has, Our Kid please. Never on CD according to those on the Fb group.

I like the 70s and 80s yearbooks, extras and vaults. Very good selections and only a few mistakes. The 90s ones are pointless for me as I have the riginal single CD's of nearly all Top 20 hits.

When the 70s and 90s yearbooks are finished, I hope they start doing 00s yearbooks

I’d love that, but I’m just worried about the lack of tracks that have become harder to license or can’t be licensed at all anymore.

For example:

Yearbook 2000 could be missing Spiller, Fragma, Geri Halliwell, Darude, Tom Jones

Yearbook 2001 could be missing Gorillaz, Jennifer Lopez, Destiny’s Child, iiO, D12, Daft Punk

This is just based on what artists I don’t really see appear on Comps anymore. But again, I’d love 00s Yearbooks, and the Extras that’d come with them.

Jennifer Lopez, Tom Jones, Geri Halliwell and Destiny’s Child are still licensable. It’s only Beyoncé’s solo material that’s unlicensable. If they did 00s yearbooks, there’d be loads of missing tracks that barely or never appear on compilations

For me yearbooks of early 2000's are pointless as it is quite easy to get the original single-CD's or CD compilations from that time. I wish that they go for 1960's yearbooks.

ABBA won’t be on extra unfortunately but Don’t Take Away The Music by Tavares could be on extra even though it technically outsold Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel even though they both peaked at number 4

I would love to see KC & The Sunshine Band on there with ‘Shake Shake Shake (Shake Your Booty)’. A Top 40 hit sure but would be perfect for the Extra as it’s a very memorable song.

Both made it in the end.

Decent tracklisting.

Fingers crossed that vault 1982 gets announced next week or the week after before the next yearbook. I can’t see it being released 24th October as it’s a week away from the next yearbook. This time last year, they announced vault 1984 so I don’t get why they didn’t announce vault 1982
