Sorry guys but I had to adjust the sequencing of the Now 42 tracklist, I hope you prefer the new ordering.

What has struck me about the album is how many songs I've never heard that I'm coming across. Usually I have this with the Vault albums but not an Extra, especially not from the 90s, so they really have used some very low peakers. The A-ha, Sting, Rain Tree Crow, ABC and Julee Cruise songs and maybe more all missed the top 40, and these songs feel more like Vault territory so I very much doubt they will continue the Vault into the 90s, what would they even include on it to make it sell if they are using up big names with low charting songs on the Extra? I expect they already know that the Vault series is going to remain 80s only which is why we have these non top 40 songs on here.

Still, I'm enjoying the likes of Belinda Carlisle, Chris Rea, Voice of the Beehive, Pet Shop Boys, Kylie, Roxette, Simply Red and even the early Take That single. Can You Dig It?, There's Nothing Like This, Something Got Me Started and Things That Make You Go Hmmm should have been on the main album. Samantha Janus also should have been on the Extra imo, they often do find a space for the UK Eurovision entry somewhere.

I agree with all of this. I don't know if Samantha Janus is trying to repress her early years (now Samantha Womack) but I'm aware the song isn't on streaming either. It saddens me that the Extra has been cheapened like this. I stand by what I say, when I say that the 90's Yearbooks are sadly weaker than the other decades.

NTWICM, we get it, yes you can now put these big names on your albums, but their songs were so minor at the time that they come across as unrecognisable today.

Another thing for me, is how underrepresented the dance anthems of this year have been. Yes, Disc 2 on the main was quite decent, but for two tracks (The Prodigy and Moby) they couldn't even get the versions that were played on the radio at the time. Instead we get the original 3 minute version of Charly, and some 2006 remix of Go. But on the Extra (and I note how they keep highlighting this in their emails promoting the Extra like it's a good thing) it has like, 3 proper dance tracks and that's it. It's not reflective of the UK at the time at all.

EDIT: Just checked Spotify, turns out 'A Message To Your Heart' is now on there! That's good to know!

Yes, A Message To Your Heart was added a few months ago at the same time as Emma's entry for 1990, so I was holding out hope that Now would use Samantha, but alas no, A-listers with flops were more important than top 40 hits.

1991 was all about dance and rave - and this is way underrepresented on the NOW's. It is really a pity as the 70's and 80's yearbooks work quite well, but the 90's yearbooks are a big disappointment as they seem not to like 90's dance music, eventhough the "Such A Good Feeling" release was quite good. Anyway I am not in the focus group of these relöeases as I own nearly each UK Top 20 of the 90's on single CD's and can easily compile my own compilation from it. I did already a 5 part series of 1990, but may create another one for 1991.

Here is my 1990 with all sounds sourced from my single-CD collection:

@nowmusic1993 you have my heart. Thank you for bringing me such excitement for a fresh new release from you every day! I'll be sad when this all ends as I'll want to own every single one of these in my CD collection!

That’s very kind of you @awardinary thank you😁if it’s any consolation I have decided that I will be going back to Now 20. I may go over Now 60 eventually, I just think they may look like they’re full of filler!

I think that's a fair judgement for you to make and perhaps that's what some of my Disc 3 collections looked like beyond that volume too. I guess we got the best but still some glaring omissions over the years that followed from the likes of Taylor, Harry, Adele and Ed to name a few.

I would be very happy if you went past 60! No need to worry about filler, that’s part of the NOW DNA. These have been such fun to look at, I can’t tell you how excited I get when I see the thread has new posts! You’ve made this thread such fun to be in @nowmusic1993 ! Keep doing what you’re doing!

Now 39, my very first Now compilation. ❤️

I wish I had this copy along with it though as a four disc bumper special!

Some names on this I would never have expected to see on a Now compilation I might add! 😂

I agree. It’s quite a novelty volume I think! It was another awkward tracklist to order!

'The Eternal Collection' haha, they're running out of adjectives for these pointless releases.

I'd rather have another album from @nowmusic1993

I just hope they announce the next yearbook later in the week. 30th January is a bit short notice
