Just watched it yesterday and it was incredible. Probably my movie of the year so far.

Cannot WAIT for this. Looks so so good and I'm hearing great things (but divisive if you are expecting a throwaway, run of the mill horror movie etc.. - much like the reaction to 'Longlegs')

Wait, was there something after the credits? :’) We walked out right away. I didn’t feel the ending has potential to be that divisive.

I didn't love the ending. The film definitely has moments of humour throughout but it's never trying to be more funny than it is scary. Then the final five minutes before the credits roll is mostly played for laughs which seems out of sorts with most of the rest of the movie. Yes, it’s a fun ending! … but I can’t help but be a bit disappointed that I sat there in pure dread for 110 minutes for it to end like that. The audience were really chuckling along in the final few scenes and then suddenly the credits roll.

I didn’t understand why so many scenes got the laughs, most of the them weren’t funny, at least not laugh out loud funny. Amusing at best.

I liked the mood and the funny direction but audience reaction was very confusing at times.

This was really good. Zack Cregger's proving to be a real master of unravelling storytelling, there was a palpable sense of dread throughout and seeing things through different perspectives was really well done. I did think once the climax came and it got a little more silly in the conclusion, it lost some of it's earlier power and I did think Barbarian did the mad tonal shift a bit better, but it didn't affect my enjoyment and it's still an insanely gripping film until the final minutes.

I watched with a fairly quiet audience so I guess I got off lucky there (quiet morning screenings are so much better x)

I found the premise really interesting but I knew that the actual suspense and build up was going to be the actual highlight of the movie and that the reveal was going to be underwhelming. It's usually the case with movies like this where they start off incredibly strong but once the story becomes clearer and you start getting clues then you kinda work out the ending by yourself.

Saying that though, I thought overall it was a great movie and really appreciated that it wasn't just all cheap jump scares and that there were actually some very disturbing and creepy visuals that were hard to look away from even if they made you feel uneasy and freaked out. The slow, eerie, silent scene of the mother walking down the garden with the scissors and her erratically swaying from side to side was something I couldn't shake out of my mind long after the movie had ended. Similarly the shot of the principal running down to the gas station with his eyes bulging and arms outstretched was disturbing as hell.

All in all I can accept the sort of underwhelming ending (I HATE any sort of comedy in horror movies) and felt it ended quite abruptly, the majority of the movie was really good and in terms of horrors I'd say it's one of the best ones I've watched in a long time purely for the memorable visuals.

Really enjoyed this. For me, what was so strong about the story was the non-linear narrative structure - it played in so well and really was crafted together expertly.

Agree with others about the ending. I still had a few questions and it really did end abruptly, but I suppose I don't really know how it could have ended any other way. Definitely bittersweet.

Probably going to go down as a film of the year for me. I loved the non-linear structure and how outlandishly HORROR it was - it was made for horror film lovers and it showed. The final third was so bonkers and chaotic, I couldn't stop gasping. It had a bit of everything from the brooding, sinister mystery, to the zombie-chasing anarchy, to the supernatural witch-horror, home-invasion horror and everything else in between. Absolutely loved every minute of it even if it was totally not what I went in expecting the film to be.

(I love how the trailer was effectively just the first minutes of the film and then everything that followed deviated totally away from its sentiments and mood)

I've heard mixed reviews so I'm on the fence on whether to see this or not but then I'm about to watch Honey Don't which is meant to be terrible, even by Ethan Coen's standards so I probably should just see Weapons as well 😅

I feel that if you go in expecting a throwaway generic horror movie, then you’ll be disappointed. But there’s something more to this and won’t really appeal all that much to casual horror movie audiences.

But I do think you’d like it tbh!
