That's exactly why I despise Pierced Organ so much. Love how Zack totally didn't back down to even show any signs of buckling there!

I just hope that this is leading to something. This is wild and something I never thought would be possible!

Sorry, but don’t think a big membership means much unfort.

It's so nice just having that little bit of hope there for us all. Truly! They're not a perfect party by any means, but they're definitely the best choice out there rn and honestly, there will never be a "perfect party".

I really hope this momentum lasts long enough to get the Greens substantial support come election time. The papers and press are trying to bury him, so I know he's the perfect choice!

Problem is the electoral system!

It’ll just mean a right winger gets in if you split the votes!

It’s nice to see England finally have a viable alternative to Labour for those on the left to join PC and SNP in providing a solid progressive platform in opposition to a centre right labour government

Coz the right wing vote isn’t split currently is it?

Depends what you call right wing, the current government is relatively right wing when you put all their policies on the floor. They believe you have to be right wing in government because they accept the narrative of the establishment.

The only two REAL right wing parties on paper or for the said establishment are the tories and reform party and they are just realigning now. So they aren’t really splitting each other up.

The only two real left wing parties are the Greens and a prospective Your Party but since the latter hasn’t had an electoral test yet it’s hard to tell whether they will be 1% of the vote of 12%. At any rate in a FPTP system it’ll not mean much depending on the spread of the vote.

Then there’s the Lib Dem’s who are on as many seats as they’ve had since 1922 but can they build an electoral coalition to be in government, I’m not so sure. There’s old Labour reformy seats in the old industrial north who just don’t have a history of voting Lib Dem and I can’t see them starting now. Then there’s the question of are they right or left and again no one knows. Most likely they are just an alternative to Labour who as I said above are generally pro establishment centre righters. When Labour are in government they sit to their left when we have the tories they can play to the centre right.

The bbc is willing a reform government into power exactly as they did a Brexit vote

Revenge of the BBTory. The right wingers in charge wanted brexshit, wanted Tories, and now they want Reform

But I REALLY don't want to get *too* hopeful as I fear we'll just receive a crushing blow. But my GAHD do their broadcasts make me feel hopeful, somewhat.

I wouldn’t get too hopeful tbh but it’s good to have a left wing voice who is charismatic on the scene

Zack's been really impressive in the run up to the local elections, getting out there, getting his name out there, even in spite of media putting their foot down to try and catch the Green Party and him out. Hope they have an excellent Thursday.

The comment on the Golders Green attack was...misjudged to say the least, that was easy bait for the media to jump on him, but I'm still hoping they can get a good result on Thursday as gosh, I need one party to have hope with.

apologies for long post I'm kind of catching up on weeks of not posting about politics filling myself with annoyances for reading UK politics subreddits too much for my own good:

The 'perception of antisemitism' was one where they kinda nailed him, even though I get what he is saying (the media highlight these hate incidents and it creates heightened fear in the same way that people are fearful of terrorist attacks more generally even though the likelihood of such a thing happening is low, plus the media have incentives to attack the Greens), he's come up with a decent defense in that right-wing and pro-Israeli media whip up this fear of things like pro-Palestinian marches and one should not be fearful of such marches. But one area where I'd have hoped he'd recognise he'd need to be careful as he's been pretty savvy on most other things. The Times and Sky News have actually potentially even been antisemitic towards him (c.f. The Times cartoon depicting him using antisemitic tropes & Trevor Phillips minimising Zack's own identity). Calling out police brutality over the Golders Green attack was I think the right call and he shouldn't have apologised for it (and in actual fact his apology was more along the lines of bringing such retweets into a big public forum, one of the perils of his normal strength of being good online), and it was quite egregious for the Met Police to directly get involved in an election.

I think it's one that'll get moved past as long as they recognise that all Green candidates are going to be scrutinised relentlessly even as they sort of handwave at many more Reform/Tory/Labour candidates also having scandals and he does need to ensure that certain elements who act as if they have the same views as the Iranian Ayatollah do not attach themselves to a wider Green movement. It has been concerning seeing some pro-Palestinian people treat Israel as a unique evil when really the only reason we are so disgusted with them in comparison to other insane governments engaged in conflicts like Sudan, Russia and Iran, is that our governments and political class are often supportive of Israel despite the horrors they inflict on people.

Bots and right-wingers are really emboldened to post anti-Green nonsense on mainline subreddits though, I hope the Greens learn from this round and keep laser focus on economic issues, Rachael Millward was excellent on Question Time for this, see clip in below tweet, note that the biased commentary is completely nonsensical in that what you actually have here is an insecure racist trying to get a gotcha from Millward, she recognises this, doesn't take the bait and makes a point that I would have also made (yass!) that people feeling economically insecure is often a reason why they turn to hate and by fixing their economic insecurity we can hopefully lower the amount of racial hatred in society.

Piers Morgan continuing his feud with Zack Polanski on QT this evening calling him divisive dangerous and frankly weird because he believes a woman can have a penis.
