Posted November 20, 2025Nov 20 Hello and welcome to the 2001 edition of Year End Battle: UK vs AUS.I thought it might be a bit of fun to go back to the year end charts from the UK and Australia from throughout the 00's and do a head to head battle with each position in the top 25 of the years chart. The aim is to vote for your favourite song of the two in each poll. I've chosen the top 25 as that means we won't finish with a tie, like we would with the top 20 or 10.Each day I'll start a new poll climbing one position higher to the #1 single battle.Hopefully by the end of this game we can see whether our Buzzjack community preferred the UK's year end chart or Australia's.*It's also worth noting that the same song can feature twice, but given it'll always most likely be going against a different song I don't see an issue with it.**It's also worth noting that in this and future series we I will be diving a little deeper than the top 25. This is only used in instances when the same song charts in the same position on both charts. This didn't occur in 2000 bu has occurred once in 2001. Kylie Minogue's Can't Get You Out Of My Head was the 3rd highest selling single in both the UK and Australia in 2001, so that would make the #3 poll null and void. That is why I've decided to go to the 26th song to bring us back to an even 25.Kicking things off with the **25th best selling song of the year we have.Representing the UK year end charts: - Wyclef Jean: Perfect GentlemanRepresenting the Australian year end charts: Bob the Builder: Mambo No 5
November 20, 2025Nov 20 Gone for Wyclef as it's ok and there wasn't really a need for Bob to cover that lol.
November 20, 2025Nov 20 Wyclef definitely I heard the other one a handful of times in 2001 and that was quite enough.
November 20, 2025Nov 20 Author Bob The Builder for me, it's in the so bad it's kind of funny camp for me.Never really heard the Wyclef Jean song.
