You’re right albeit I can’t see many wham! Fans downloading each version in comparison to the Kylie ones!

Have a look on their campaign pages you’d be surprised at the amount of mass/multi-buying - Wham/GM have a very loyal fanbase like Kylie

You didn't just saying she's only released 4 mixes it's not that many tbh

I know thought I'd exaggerated like others do when other people release extras 🤣

Omg Kylie still increasing her lead 😱

I need to take a beta blocker

Heads up: the Buzzjack Friday Christmas chart show thread has to start earlier than usual to accommodate for the 3pm start time on Radio 1 tomorrow.

Yeah as we established wham is 40 year old so most that are gonna actually buy probably have by now 🤣🤣

I think it’s fairly safe to say she’s got it. Would be strange to suddenly see over 15K extra sales - realistically they probably need 17K extra sales added as Kylie will still have today’s to be added in which should see her go over to 52/53K

Wham! Have been a lot lower this year I’d say. Even with the lag, they’ll probably take a total of 47K max?

I won't rest easy until I see the final figures.

After Sam Ryder's Space Man lost out on No.1 at the last second in 2022 after Harry Styles' label conveniently dumped a load of held back physical sales on at the last minute, I don't really ever trust any other label not to do the same thing. Guessing there aren't going to be 5k Wham! physicals to suddenly add on, but I've got to be certain before I start my celebration.

Wham! realistically are currently only 5k behind I suppose today once you add missing data.

Yeah same, I'm not going to believe it until it's announced. Not until they put their hand on their heart and tell me that the race is all over. But I will be shocked if Wham get it now.

Do we think Kylie has benefited from the Christmas chart week being quite early this year? Would she have made it had it been closer to Christmas Day?

Of course she's benefitting from Christmas streams, but would there be more streams for Wham! etc overall plus the weight of the physicals/downloads be less of a factor? It's a weird one.

I do think Wham’s units looking lower than usual has benefitted. It could be the time of year but there could also be some general fatigue setting in hearing the same Christmas songs.

Christmas songs will have the stranglehold on the charts but apart from a handful of times per season, I don’t really feel the need to hear Last Christmas, All I Want, Driving Home etc. if anything I’ve been seeking out Christmas songs I rarely hear - John Legend and Carrie Underwood’s duet Hallelujah (not that one) being an example of this.

I do believe that the chart being as far away from Christmas day does work in the favour of everyone else, I do believe if the chart was revealed on Christmas day for example the battle would be a lot more fiercer as most people don't actually finish for Christmas until tomorrow

Yes, Alexa will 99.9% of the time will play Kylie first or second (Wham/Mariah the other times).

I’d imagine next weeks Monday mids will be as normal but we won’t get much the rest of the week as OCC will be on their Xmas party if there at all on Xmas eve!

Listen to Alexa earlier on and she played Kylie-Mariah-Wham-Wizzard-Buble-John Lennon-Kylie

I can see the OCC wilfully underestimating Wham’s Thursday streams since they’d obviously rather have Kylie be Xmas #1 than a Wham hat trick (I will never forgive them for doing Mariah out of #1 by a few hundred copies against Ava Max in 2018!)

I don't see them diddling Kylie but their facebook page has been pushing wham just as hard as they have been pushing Kylie tbf

They love to create a chart battle - keeps the charts relevant and gets spoken about in the media.

This is why I think as the week has gone on, Kylie has possibly gained a fair few curious streams to see what it’s about. Having heard it’s in the Christmas #1 race. No one is really gonna seek out Last Christmas when the vast majority of people are more than aware of it. This does mean Kylie might not have had as many passive streams as what people may think.

Love the songs references and like you i wont rest easy until its offcial.

Great to see Kylie increase her lead again. Saying that though I won’t be celebrating until it’s officially announced.

They probably have already in previous years' campaigns, to be fair! lol

Why say ‘probably’ when you know it’s true 🤣

Kylie’s team and Amazon would have ensured she would do well, so it’s irrelevant how close we are to Christmas
