Thank you to everyone who pointed Nelly this year, this really went beyond my expectations. It’s wild to think this was only my second full year competing. Dan had an absolutely insane run, so it's a little bittersweet not seeing him do the double. Still, incredible to win such a strong contest this month

And congrats blacksquare on the EOY #1 I voted for 8 of your 10 songs, with the other two being commiserations!

I would have been delighted to have taken Jerry Heil to 4th as my first choice entry, and looking at the EOY, 246 points would indeed have lifted me up to 20th, maintaining my 100% record of top 20 finishes, so I hope Cody isn't too disappointed after being top or at least in the medals until late.

As it is, I am "the lucky nation" to benefit from the Bøtanikkä withdrawal. Honestly I don't know to feel about all this right now.

As tempting as it is to bash through all the spreadsheeting and post everything at circa 4am tonight I think I'm going to be responsible and leave it to tomorrow to work on EOY stats and whatnot to give myself a slightly better chance of actually sleeping before work tomorrow x

Congrats Dan! Another very nice winner and entry from Austra, would've been quite the upset if that would've landslided and nabbed the EOY #1 at the last minute but not to be, congrats to Nelionoir for the EOY win, nice to see the top 2 were countries I fairly regularly point x

I fully expected to plummet so just about hanging on to the top 20 is more than acceptable and well beyond anything I expected for this entry (defying the bottom 10 predictions again ), thank you so much for ending the year on a high in what turned out to be one of my most successful years ever after a poor start and in spite of me not winning like the two years prior, hopefully that means I've hung on to the top 20 too x If you did like this one, their EP BODY FARM is worth checking out, which is made up of one continuous remix of their own work with other artists, was considering sending it here as one song but that probably wouldn't have done anywhere near as well and earn me a bit of ire

As said, it's fantastic to see Aelandor finish top 10 with such a leftfield entry, this is my favourite discovery in a long time in BJSC, also great to see six of my votes make the top 10, A-Konohagakure (I finally typed that out yay x) up there is fantastic as I didn't expect it. A shame Steven Wilson couldn't follow the last two entries' success and would've liked to see Cumulonimbia and Aeroche do a bit better, but not too bad for my votes overall.

Only worked out 15th-31st so far and will wait for Bré on the rest, but I'm 25th and only 50 points ahead of 31st, so I'm grateful for that.

I'm so impressed with N DNTN/XG finishing 11th after being stuck on 1 point for so long in the beginning. Also yay for Mothertopia and Yehesi joining me in the top 20!

Speaking of slow starts, glad my 18 (The Spodic Empire) recovered after being stuck on 0, but deserved far better, I'm shocked it was overlooked this much but I guess that's how competitive this contest was. And East Rukahavian certainly didn't deserve last either, when will the racism end? 😢 (I really appreciated the discovery, Mack, thank you for sending it!)

This was the entry I've been most looking forward to sending this year, and while I hoped top 10 was a possibility, I'm more than thrilled with 14th. It's my best result in two years, and finally Ary's first top 20, in four attempts spanning almost a decade! I'm even more excited that she finished 3rd in the semifinal *.*

Thanks again gooddelta for hosting. I assume we finished behind schedule, but won't mind if that means a shorter break with 181 just around the corner 🙌

This was really supposed to be the November contest so we remained quite off schedule indeed hehe but we still at least have a few weeks to breathe and enjoy that whole Christmas malarkey before we (presumably) jet off to Danæviia again x

(amidst all this we still haven't had a Christmas spinoff... is it too late for that now or can we still squeeze it in to maintain the alternating Halloween/Christmas spinoff tradition? anyone shout if you'd be interested in a last minute hosting )

Congratulations @gooddelta for the great presentation of the results and hosting the event. The only thing which was sometimes bit difficult for me to follow as newbie was to follow which user belonged to which nation, but I believe time will clarify this. 🙂

I think I have already found the perfect song for the next BJSC (in January?) and hope this may qualify the Zephyra Continuum for the first final then. I was quite surprised that so many songs presented here were not pop 😉, so that I have adapted my selection criteria.

One question on the BJSC spin-offs? How often do these take place and what is the difference to the BJSC?

Gosh, I need to pace myself 😆 I made a new 'song contest potentials' playlist recently (not limited to BJSC) and it already has 31 songs 🙃 I think I already know what I want my next two entries to be, but the third one is open and will be more of a challenge - especially as I want to get three qualifiers in a row for the first time (I think the next two will be strong enough to qualify unless things go haywire - don't let me down Buhjusc).

I might try to be a bit more competitive and ambitious next year (without stabbing throats or eyes), but still only send songs I love and find interesting and not cookie-cutter.

Thanks to everyone who gave f5ve points! It was a nice farewell (for now) to the contest. Everyone enjoy yourselves going forward and I'll be back eventually!
