Music Week listed Rein Me In as a climber because its overall total increased, however that was due to downloads - it's streams declined so it is on 2 weeks of decline - DCL-2.

It went to DCL-2 on Friday but had an increase after the media coverage

Blame the media for Rein Me In getting an increase this week and also, it ain’t gonna change the fact that I much prefer Everything I Do I Do It For You and Love Is All Around

Do you not get tired of repeating the same thing over and over again?

No. As long as i have a mouth and a voice, I’ll keep it flapping. GBNews was the only news channel that stayed silent on Rein Me In. British bs corporation obviously reported it. Frankie Laine and Bryan Adams were the only two artists that managed another number 1 afterwards. Wet Wet Wet never managed another number 1 after Love Is All Around. I can’t see Sam getting another number 1 but I can see Olivia getting another number 1

Theres no evidence to suggest he wont get another number 1 either though

ed sheeran had multiple number 1s after his 14 weeks with Shape of you, Bad habits even had 11 weeks and possibly could of had more without shivers

Drake had multiple number 1s after his 15 weeks with one Dance

You can never say never

It also doesn’t matter because it’s a singles chart and not an artist chart. He could never release another song again and it wouldn’t delegitimise Rein Me In being as big as it is.

On a related note... and this may be a bit of a random place to mention this but it feels like it's linked to the situation Hadji was replying to here. I don't spend that much time in the chart forum but even I've noticed in the past few weeks that there's been lots of instances where posters are getting frustrated by repetitive comments etc that a few others are making. This saddens me a bit as I know everyone's here to enjoy discussing the charts, sales and streaming etc.

The way I see it is the chart forum is typically frequented by the same people week in, week out - so whatever any of us type, it's only being read by the same limited number of people. In principle that's great and it should be a place where like minded people can come together to enjoy discussing the charts. However quite a lot of people are starting to voice frustrations over the same circular posts being made by the same people, to the extent where they're beginning to actively call this out in the threads - which is no doubt quite frustrating for everyone involved. If you're one of those people who are experiencing this, it may be worth just thinking about whether you really need to continue to say things over and over again.

I don't think you're experiencing this 'backlash' because other members are trying to silence your view or because your view isn't on topic... those members were all perfectly happy to read the views for the first one, two or maybe even three times. But when you get to a place where you're posting the exact same things at every opportunity, it's the equivalent of walking in to a room of friends and just blurting out the same thing over and over again - and that's not something you'd ever do in person as it would be really quite rude. So I think it's understandable that the group of people that you share the forum with week in week out would start to find it a bit irritating if you're doing the same thing to them online.

Just my view as someone who finds it slightly saddening when I see the conversations in here descend into circular arguments that seem to wind a lot people up.

People disagree with the record because of the artist who broke it. If someone like Taylor Swift or Ed Sheeran broke the record, then it would be something worth celebrating and this is coming from someone who isn’t exactly a fan of Taylor Swift

You’re making it sound like Gary Glitter, Rolf Harris or Jimmy Savile broke the record?

And wether people ‘disagree’ with it or not it’s kind of pointless - it will forever feature on the official lists of most weeks at #1 and even if it’s overtaken it’ll still be way up there.

Like the other songs Rein Me In overtook are still way up there and I’m not making it sound like Rolf, Gary or Jimmy broke the record. For one, Jimmy never had any singles

Yeah in a perfect world Taylor swift would break the record or Jade or Kelly clarkson or lily allen

But realistically im just listing my favourite artists and everyones idea of perfect world is different

But facts are facts sam and olivia are the official record breakers

In your opinion - you seem to think you speak on behalf of everyone or present facts.

I haven’t seen anyone disagree with it because it’s not an opinion, it’s a fact. It is the longest running number one of all time. I’ve seen plenty of TikTok’s from people who are confused because they’ve not heard it before but I don’t think I’ve heard anyone say they don’t agree with it because it’s Sam Fender.

I’ve seen people say the same about Choosin Texas surpassing I Will Always Love You in USA - and it might feel strange

As I’ve previously said, why would it matter if the artist isn’t big to this conversation? Completely ignoring the fact that Sam Fender is one of the biggest artists in the UK in the last decade - Macarena is one of the biggest songs of all time sales wise, is this irrelevant and undeserving because Los Del Rio didn’t become a huge band? Some of the biggest songs are by one hit wonders and it doesn’t make them any less huge as songs in a singles chart.

Would people be happy if Ed Sheeran or Taylor broke it though? When it would be more likely because of their name instead of the song itself.

I dont know whether people would be happy as much as even care realistically outside of a forum like buzzjack most people would be oh cool and forgotten about it in a week

Because Frankie Laine was such a monumental artist?

I honestly dont understand how anyone can listen to it today and go yeah that was incredible because it really wasnt , maybe that sound was huge in the 50s but now

I think when the record came in to focus I did remember the Frankie Laine track from the deep recesses of my mind but I was raised by my grandparents. Its not exactly the modern standard, the 60s were key in making the modern pop sound.
