Posted January 21Jan 21 Tori's gazillionth album In Times of Dragons is due out on May 1st.“In Times of Dragons is a metaphorical story about the fight for Democracy over Tyranny, reflecting the current abhorrent non-accidental burning down of democracy in real time by the ‘Dictator believing Lizard Demons’ in their usurpation of America.”This is also a good chance to mention that the accompanying album for her children's book, The Music of Tori and the Muses that was released last year is actually quite good too and definitely not just for kids! Not that different from her usual sound. 'Mermaid Muse Speaks' is brilliant and probably one of her most unexpectedly intriguing songs of recent times:
January 21Jan 21 'Mermaid Muse Speaks' is not what I expected at all. Surprisingly eerie? The less said about the album artwork the better x

The rest of the album is not like that mind you. This was the standout on it for me though (I haven't listened in a lil while now).I think the album cover is better than Unrepentant Geraldines at least. Love that album btw! A lot of people didn't get it for some reason, not necessarily on here but more generally.

Promise was good too.
February 28Feb 28 Author There will be 17 tracks on the album. 'Stronger Together' is the 16th track.

April 14Apr 14 Author Well this is a cute little ditty! Similarly to Björk (who's of a similar age), her voice has definitely become thinner and more 'limited', but that shouldn't be a criticism as it's natural, especially considering the amount of time they have spent singing (and Björk had an operation for a nodule on her vocal chords years ago). As a fan, it's just something for me to accept as time goes by.
May 1May 1 Author Out today! First impressions were positive, which doesn't surprise me as it's Tori and I like most of her later work too (both Native Invader and Ocean To Ocean really hit the spot!). There will probably be a lot more to unpack as it's 17 songs and over an hour long, but among my first listen highlights were 'Veins' (sung with her daughter), 'Strawberry Moon' (also sung with her daughter, very pretty song), maybe 'Tempest', and the closer '23 Peaks' is stunning and cinematic! Very different to the rest of the album but ties everything together beautifully.'Fanny Faudrey' is the 'silly interlude' on this one haha. There's only so much I can say after just one listen but yeah, overall I'm pretty happy with this.
May 21May 21 Author '23 Peaks' is one of her most beautiful closers, gosh. It's stunning, it's like I almost forget to breathe while listening. It ties everything together so beautifully.
