Posted January 25Jan 25 Starting this week! Kath and I are back to present the Multichart EOY, and jimwatts will be joining us as a co-host this year! This EOY is compiled in a points-based format based on the weekly Multichart: the #1 each week gets 75 points, the #75 gets 1 point, and so on. You can use that to have an idea of which songs will do well here. Any guesses, hopes, predictions? Before we get started, here's a recap of the 2024 Multichart EOY:1 2037 Chappell Roan - Good Luck, Babe2 1816 Billie Eilish - BIRDS OF A FEATHER3 1807 Sabrina Carpenter - Espresso4 1709 Chappell Roan - HOT TO GO!5 1595 Charli xcx - 360 6 1456 Charli xcx - Apple7 1449 Ariana Grande - we can't be friends (wait for your love)8 1382 Charli xcx feat. January 27Jan 27 Author 71 673 Sabrina Carpenter - House Tour (45-24-25-21-13-13-14-16-19-21-26-41-64-56-71-xx-74-xx) [16 wks]72 668 PinkPantheress - Illegal (72-70-17-9-8-7-6-10-11-9-11-24-xx-66-xx) [13 wks]73 660 The Weeknd - Cry For Me (16-18-12-8-8-8-11-15-28-34-42-52-xx) [12 wks]74 659 PinkPantheress & Zara Larsson - Stateside (30-33-37-37-xx-50-43-32-34-21-23-26-27-38-40-60-26-...) [16 wks]75 650 Florence + The Machine - Everybody Scream (29-25-17-18-20-22-26-35-37-22-24-31-37-71-xx) [14 wks]Just sneaking into the countdown is Florence + The Machine's comeback single and title track 'Everybody Scream'. PinkPantheress appears twice in this section, first with 'Stateside', a song which could potentially appear in the 2026 EOY too, and with 'Illegal' at #72. Sandwiched in between is actually The Weeknd's only appearance this year; 'Cry For Me' was briefly a hit but ultimately had a short shelf life. Rounding off this section [and starting the next] is a pair of album tracks. 'House Tour' isn't an official Sabrina single but that didn't stop Buzzjackers from treating it like one, peaking at #13.
January 28Jan 28 66 698 Olivia Dean - So Easy (To Fall In Love) (56-51-27-14-11-9-9-8-8-7-7-7-...) [12 wks]67 697 Abor & Tynna - Baller (67-48-42-44-50-42-44-36-24-13-5-6-10-12-31-45-xx) [16 wks]68 696 Sonny Fodera & Clementine Douglas - Tell Me (24-26-25-18-18-18-22-18-21-21-27-34-37-59-xx) [14 wks]69 688 Doja Cat - Jealous Type (13-10-8-7-8-9-8-11-19-30-42-59-xx) [12 wks]70 684 Lily Allen Pussy Palace (13-7-4-3-4-6-6-9-11-13-...) [10 wks]'Pussy Palace' was without a doubt the fan favorite from Lily Allen's unexpected viral hit album. Her first Multichart top 3 since 'Somewhere Only We Know' went to #1 in December 2013! Doja Cat's 80s-influenced 'Jealous Type' gives her the first of two appearances in this countdown, this her only one as lead artist. 'Tell Me' was a slow burning hit officially and likewise in the multichart, topping its run with four weeks at #18. Germany's Eurovision entry from Abor & Tynna lands in the dreaded #67 position - it was the biggest post-contest grower and followed its unexpected UK Top 40 appearance with a multichart top 10 run. The first of four Olivia Dean appearances (three of them solo) in this countdown is next, although it has since outdone the #7 peak it had in 2025.
February 9Feb 9 Author 61 713 PinkPantheress - Tonight (40-16-11-12-18-17-20-25-28-33-37-73-43-46-44-50-xx-66-xx) [17 wks]62 712 Olivia Dean - Nice To Each Other (57-37-26-21-23-20-46-48-45-52-66-71-xx-66-49-43-37-32-39-60-52-50-42-54-xx) [23 wks]63 711 KATSEYE - Gabriela (66-xx-63-54-39-21-19-15-16-19-34-55-29-38-49-53-38-39-43-70-49-xx) [20 wks]64 708 Sam Fender - Arm's Length (26-14-12-15-12-10-12-20-23-23-24-36-53-xx) [13 wks]65 699 Justin Bieber - DAISIES (48-38-17-11-9-10-10-14-16-22-32-39-53-52-70-xx) [15 wks]We're back, apols for the delay! Justin Bieber's comeback, whose lyrics don't actually include its title, is the first UK #1 to feature here. Making the top 65 by an arm's length (see what I did there) is Sam Fender's first of three entries this year. We have girl-group representation from KATSEYE, who didn't make it with 'Gnarly' but the more palatable 'Gabriela' is here at #63. Olivia Dean appears again with 'Nice To Each Other', which shockingly peaked at just #20 on the Multichart! A 23-week chart run makes up for it though. We're already up to three appearances for PinkPantheress, and 'Tonight' is her highest.
February 11Feb 11 56 741 KAJ - Bara Bada Bastu (43-31-29-37-41-48-54-45-29-11-10-11-17-23-43-52-48-55-xx) [18 wks]57 738 Sam Fender & Olivia Dean - Rein Me In (28-22-20-15-19-20-24-27-26-30-32-32-40-52-60-74-xx-33-...) [17 wks]58 733 Tate McRae - TIT FOR TAT (25-19-16-17-18-17-14-18-15-20-24-29-51-48-...) [14 wks]59 726 Ed Sheeran - Sapphire (37-27-21-12-11-10-14-25-26-35-38-45-37-42-38-xx-72-xx) [16 wks]60 714 Gracie Abrams - That's So True (...-13-5-5-6-8-8-9-17-21-22-31-31-52-59-xx) [22 wks]Gracie Abrams' 'That's So True' didn't have enough charting weeks for the 2024 EOY but carried over for the first 14 weeks of '25 to make it now; #5 was its highest weekly position in either year. Ed Sheeran may be past his commercial peak but still managed a couple of sizeable hits last year - both made the Multichart top 10, and this is the first to appear. The first of four Tate McRae songs racked up the points to make it in, despite entering in October and missing the top 10. Peaking even lower is the Sam and Olivia duet that refuses to be reined in and could be on the verge of a new peak in the UK chart this week. Sweden's Eurovision entry and sauna anthem by KAJ finished 4th, and grazed the multichart top 10 post-contest in the longest run of any of the year's entrants in this EOY.
February 11Feb 11 Jealous Type was very good pity it wasn't more of a chart hit.Abor & Tynna wishing they were a little bit taller.'Tonight' is good but it got a bit overshadowed on TikTok by 'Illegal' and obviously now by 'Stateside'. Such a relevant sound anyway by PinkPantheress.
February 16Feb 16 Author 51 767 Cynthia Erivo feat. Ariana Grande - Defying Gravity (...-5-4-3-3-5-9-13-21-16-18-28-29-40-47-61) [19 wks]52 757 Lady Gaga - Disease (...-4-6-8-8-12-20-18-20-11-13-17-13-35-50-xx) [23 wks]53 757 Perrie - If He Wanted To He Would (17-9-7-6-6-6-10-10-13-21-33-45-64-66-70-xx) [15 wks]54 756 JADE - Unconditional (69-14-10-11-17-13-11-11-10-12-17-22-35-56-xx) [14 wks]55 753 WizTheMC & bees & honey - Show Me Love (68-36-28-26-28-20-13-14-22-23-30-27-26-27-42-59-64-62-xx) [18 wks]The year's biggest Afrobeats hit, 'Show Me Love' had an equally long run, as we cross the 750 points barrier. We have back-to-back Little Mix here with JADE at #54 and Perrie at #53. 'Unconditional' was the fifth single from That's Showbiz Baby, interestingly had two peaks at #10 six weeks apart. 'If He Wanted To He Would' was the song that finally launched Perrie's long-awaited album with a respectable #6 Multichart peak. 'Disease' and 'Defying Gravity' were both released in Q4 of 2024 but had plenty of longevity into 2025, the latter actually peaking in January whereas the former peaked at #2 in its third week.
February 18Feb 18 46 827 Confidence Man & JADE - gossip (13-15-7-6-7-7-9-10-14-14-29-36-23-61-74-69-71-xx) [17 wks]47 825 Kesha - BOY CRAZY. One of my favourite songs in this EOY, 'The Sofa' looks to be the forum's eventual favourite from Wolf Alice's latest album, and came agonisingly close to cracking the weekly top 10. Speaking of Eurovision (as is common in such commentaries), four years on from fronting Måneskin's win, Damiano David teamed up with Tyla and Nile Rodgers to score the biggest hit of his solo career to date, in Multichart terms at least. The second highest placed song in this EOY not yet to have made the weekly top 10 goes to Kesha. Confidence Man are no strangers to the Multichart, but their collaborator may have brought them a little more attention than usual - JADE has three more of her own songs to come too.
February 18Feb 18 Oh wow I've somehow completely missed this thread until now?! Apologies - just caught up!My ultimate highlight so far has got to be 'The Sofa' cracking the top 50 one of my biggest slow burners of last year. I'd love to hear it on the BRITs stage but the energy of 'Bloom Baby Bloom' also seems like quite an exciting prospect live, so would equally be happy with that.
February 20Feb 20 Author 41 858 Taylor Swift - Opalite (30-23-14-10-5-5-5-6-5-5-8-8-6-...) [13 wks]42 856 Chappell Roan - The Giver (9-4-2-2-2-3-3-4-11-24-20-27-28-69-xx) [14 wks]43 851 sombr - undressed (57-35-17-9-9-11-10-5-9-11-16-24-36-48-29-39-xx) [16 wks]44 849 Sam Fender - People Watching (...-2-3-4-5-4-6-6-11-14-17-11-22-32-40-40) [20 wks]45 843 LISA feat. Doja Cat & RAYE - Born Again (5-3-3-3-3-3-7-10-14-17-29-48-49-61-60-62-72-xx) [17 wks]You might expect an all-female collab would go over well on Buzzjack, and in the case of 'Born Again' it certainly did. Not a trio I would've ever predicted on a song together, but it did the job with five weeks at #3 on the Multichart and more longevity than it had on the official chart. Sam Fender's late 2024 release 'People Watching' peaked at #2 on the first chart of 2025 and is his highest-placed song in this EOY, even with some of its chart weeks counting to 2024. Sombr's 'undressed' had a higher peak than 'back to friends' but you'll notice this one's the first one of his to drop out, due to a much shorter chart run. Chappell Roan went country last spring with 'The Giver' and it had a solid run here, with three weeks at #2 and #42 on the EOY. Last in this section we have Taylor Swift's current single and the UK's current #1 (for a few more hours anyway) 'Opalite'; it spent 5 weeks at #5 but has since climbed to a higher peak of #3 on the Multichart!
February 21Feb 21 36 883 MK feat. Chrystal - Dior (41-16-8-7-4-4-3-4-4-6-14-18-34-43-51-xx) [15 wks]37 877 Tate McRae - Just Keep Watching (12-11-8-6-6-6-5-9-10-16-20-24-28-69-52-57-xx) [16 wks]38 871 Sabrina Carpenter - Busy Woman (8-7-7-5-4-5-5-11-11-13-25-29-45-xx-61-49-60-xx) [16 wks]39 870 Ariana Grande - twilight zone (12-8-7-6-8-5-8-15-14-22-24-22-25-51-53-68-74-xx) [17 wks]40 869 Tame Impala - Dracula (69-28-15-7-5-3-3-4-5-7-9-10-14-16-...) [14 wks]Prior to 2025, Tame Impala was known for two things - being one person, and having not had a UK Top 40 hit - the second of those changed with 'Dracula', and it earns a top 40 placing in this EOY to boot. The focus track from the deluxe release of Ariana Grande's album matched its UK #5 peak in the weekly Multichart. Also taking the deluxe route to the chart, 'Busy Woman' kept Sabrina high in the charts more or less up to the release of the lead for her next album. Tate's earlier appearance in this countdown was also from a deluxe release, while her second is from F1 The Movie. Thirty years after making his chart debut, MK scored his first UK #1, and although he and Chrystal didn't quite replicate that in the weekly Multichart, 'Dior' improves on its #40 position in the official UK singles EOY by 4 places here.
February 23Feb 23 Author 31 943 Tate McRae - Revolving door (21-9-11-16-25-15-20-22-21-26-25-39-xx-40-37-40-51-33-63-44-51-46-74-xx) [22 wks]32 915 JADE - Before You Break My Heart (59-34-19-12-8-5-6-6-7-8-13-13-20-27-33-31-xx) [16 wks]33 900 Doechii - DENIAL IS A RIVER (53-14-6-4-5-4-5-5-4-9-12-16-26-39-64-64-62-xx) [17 wks]34 894 Lorde - What Was That (14-3-3-2-3-5-9-13-20-14-30-30-23-42-46-65-xx) [16 wks]35 893 Remember Monday - What The Hell Just Happened? (45-15-12-14-13-12-15-16-16-15-4-7-9-22-32-xx) [15 wks]The UK's Eurovision entry from Remember Monday had a somewhat-disappointing finish of 19th on the night, but did more respectably on the Multichart where it peaked at #4 and lands at #35 here. Ahead of it is Lorde's long-awaited comeback 'What Was That', which peaked at #2 on the 1000th Multichart, just 21 points shy of #1. We finally see Doechii's first of two entries, 'DENIAL IS A RIVER' spent 3 completely separate weeks at its #4 peak! JADE is back with 'Before You Break My Heart', which IIRC wasn't even an official single, but did have a viral moment and a music video helping it go all the way to #5 on the Multichart. Tate McRae's 'Revolving door' rounds out this section, with its matching #9 peaks on the Multichart and the official chart.
February 24Feb 24 26 1022 Addison Rae - Fame Is A Gun (18-12-7-4-2-2-3-4-5-6-15-15-21-29-38-41-48-xx) [17 wks]27 1015 Alex Warren - Ordinary (69-57-49-26-17-22-13-11-16-15-14-13-12-16-25-29-35-35-49-54-58-xx-59-59-56-xx) [24 wks]28 980 sombr - back to friends (68-35-34-36-22-19-26-18-16-13-10-13-10-14-17-37-35-49-xx-73-xx-66-39-60-58-xx) [23 wks]29 962 Taylor Swift - The Fate Of Ophelia (6-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-5-3-...) [13 wks]30 948 Lady Gaga - The Dead Dance (47-6-3-3-2-1-4-4-4-8-8-14-27-37-45-55-xx) [16 wks]The first weekly Multichart #1 to drop out of this EOY (not counting JADE's 'Church' whose 7-3-1-1 run by the year's end left it a long way short) from Lady Gaga managed its week at the top by a 2-point margin. It was then succeeded by Taylor's big hit single whose 8-week #1 run helped it to a higher EOY place in a shorter time. The second sombr song to appear broke through at the same time as 'undressed' which was above it on the former's first week at #10, but dropped below it from the second one onwards. The biggest song of 2025 in the UK is next from Alex Warren, and despite not quite reaching the Multichart top 10, it was liked enough on Buzzjack to register 24 weeks in the chart, the most of any song yet. Addison Rae has two songs in the EOY - the first to drop out is marginally her highest peaking of 2025 in the UK chart as well as the weekly Multichart.
February 28Feb 28 Author 21 1061 Chappell Roan - The Subway (5-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-3-5-6-9-14-26-34-46-xx) [16 wks]22 1056 Addison Rae Headphones On (17-9-6-4-5-6-4-3-3-10-15-23-29-26-36-41-38-49-64-xx) [19 wks]23 1029 Doechii - Anxiety (10-6-3-3-4-5-7-6-9-10-18-13-19-18-24-32-xx) [16 wks]24 1026 ROSÉ & Bruno Mars - APT. It was sandwiched between Sabrina Carpenter's two #1s of 2025; 'Tears' was lucky to sneak in that one week after Chappell. ROSÉ & Bruno Mars' 'APT.' was #52 on the 2024 EOY and improves to #24 in 2025. It had 12 weeks at #1 (one week shy of the record!), only four of which were in 2025, but 20 of its 29 chart weeks were in 2025, hence the higher position. Rounding out this section are two #3 singles, Doechii's 'Anxiety' (which was also #3 on the official chart) and Addison Rae's 'Headphones On', which finished higher than 'Fame Is A Gun'!
March 2Mar 2 16 1104 Lola Young - Messy (...-6-2-2-2-1-1-1-2-4-4-6-6-10-18-21-35-39-62-58-67-75) [23 wks]17 1099 Disco Lines & Tinashe - No Broke Boys (39-16-8-7-7-8-8-9-8-4-5-8-11-17-25-27-32-39-67-xx) [19 wks]18 1095 RAYE - WHERE IS MY HUSBAND! Benson Boone has two songs in the top 20, and this time it's the longer runner of the two which appears first, topping out twice at #6. RAYE's eventual second UK #1 has made it this far off the back of just 15 weeks at the end of 2025, however it looked to have stalled with an agonisingly long run at #2, held at bay first by 'The Dead Dance' for a week then 'The Fate Of Ophelia' for 8 weeks until it got its flowers in December. The remix of Tinashe's 2024 track 'No Broke Boys' was one of last year's big dance hits and peaked towards the end of a lengthy top 10 run. 'Messy' was the first new Mulitchart #1 of 2025 as well as the first new official UK #1 of the year.

Three weeks later, Jade took over the runner-up spot with 'Plastic Box', which spent 3 weeks at #2 to finish one place higher in the EOY. Next we have back-to-back #1s, as Ed Sheeran spent a week there with 'Azizam' immediately followed by Calvin Harris the following week with 'Blessings'. The former is only Ed's second Multichart #1, but the latter is Calvin's 10th. Just missing out on top 10 is the slow-burning, long-running 'Love Me Not' by Ravyn Lenae - looking at that chart run I'm most impressed that it spent four consecutive weeks at #19!

[26 wks]10 1216 Miley Cyrus - End Of The World (7-4-1-1-1-1-1-1-3-2-5-5-9-10-15-18-40-50-54-xx) [19 wks]Making the top 10 of 2025, 'End Of The World' had barely a fraction of the commercial success as Miley's previous lead single ('Flowers') so its 6 weeks at #1 in the Mulitchart may have seemed somewhat surprising, albeit the last of these had the lowest points tally of the year for a #1. Next, 'Midnight Sun' has the accolade of reaching the EOY top 10 without making the weekly Multichart top 10 during 2025, having initially peaked at #12 - however it has since climbed as high as #6 on the wave of 'Lush Life' going viral that helped to give it a belated official chart life in 2026. The crowning moment of Olivia's breakout year, 'Man I Need' continues to be streamed in huge numbers, and it had a long run in the top 10 here too. JADE's solo debut hit 'Angel Of My Dreams' was a 7 week #1 in 2024, but although she hasn't quite topped the Multichart since, this one continued to rack up the points and lifts her into one of these EOY top 10s for the first time. Originally released in 2020, 'Pink Pony Club' became one of the biggest hits of 2025, and stayed high in the Multichart for long enough to ensure Chappell has a second year with at least one song in the EOY top 10.
March 7Mar 7 Oh my god! I could’ve sworn I saw you say a song in the 60s section was “the highest song not to peak in the top 10” so I’d ruled Midnight Sun out of making it.But being that high purely off staying in the top 30 for so long is pretty iconic! I will take my share of responsibility for this happening x
March 8Mar 8 Yes my bad, I originally wrote that about 'BOY CRAZY.' but then swiftly added the word "yet" as I remembered 'Midnight Sun' was still to come! (And then added "second" as I'd overlooked 'Ordinary').
