Thank the lord Sweet Caroline is out, I hate it with all my soul. Already bracing myself for blocking out those heinous 'BA BA BA' shouts this summer x

  • 'The Windmills of Your Mind' is the first of my votes to drop out! Wonderful psychedelic imagery, piano and strings. The vocal performance is charming too.

Interesting the two versions of Seal's 'Killer', the Trevor Horn one doesn't deviate that much from the Adamski one in melodies.

Interestingly, the ATB cover in 2000 has two versions too, I prefer the one with the iconic bassline intact.

I didn't really care much for Seal's cover of his own song.

'Exile' is a definite highlight of Folklore.

40. Robyn - Show Me Love 172pts

Writers - Robyn, Max Martin

Top points - vibe 25, ...ready for it 21, Mango 19

From 1997, this was the Swedish singer's third top 40 hit. She still has one song ready to go in the second semi-final.

'Show Me Love' is an early Max Martin classic, love it ❤️ though wasn't it only her second top 40 hit, after 'Do You Know (What It Takes)'?

Yes, you are correct. The list on wiki was showing Do You Really Want Me as 1995 but it wasn't a hit in the UK until 1998.

My wildcard (that wasn't actually a wildcard here) Pussy Palace disappearing. Thanks Buzzjack! drama

'Listen' was written for the 2006 film 'Dreamgirls' in which it is sung by Beyonce's character, Deena Jones. It peaked at number 16 in March 2007 before reaching number 8 in December 2008 after being performed on the X Factor as a duet with Alexandra Burke.

34. The Stranglers - No More Heroes 193pts

Writers - Hugh Cornwell, Jean-Jacques Burnel, Jet Black

Top points - Grandwicky 23, Liamski689 22, Uls2000 22

This was one of three top 10 hits for The Stranglers in 1977. It name checks Leon Trotsky, Lenny Bruce, Elmyr de Hory, Sancho Panza, William Shakespeare and Nero in its lyrics.

I know No More Heroes as it was the name of a compilation of 70s and 80s new wave and punk hits.

Writers - David Guetta, Chris Braide, Sia Furler, Giorgio Tuinfort

Top points - CowTzy 25, chrissmith276 19, Alex! 18, DaTilt 18, TheSnake 18

And talking about Iceland, the video for this single was shot there. It's one of several collaborations between David Guetta and Sia, this one being released in 2012.

Only loss there is No More Heroes. I'm not a huge fan of 70s punk stuff but the Stranglers are an exception, love a lot of their work!

Beautiful Ones is a glorious pop single from Suede, a real shame that hasn't made it

I second this - in fact all five singles from Coming Up are glorious.

'She Wolf' is very good, there were some great emotive dance songs in the early 2010s charts and we don't have many in the chart nowadays sadly.
