The songs I heard last year felt a bit by the book for her after the genius of A&W, I'm definitely more into this unique sound. It's bizarre and definitely straight from the Disney villain songbook as mentioned, but the atmosphere and orchestra gives it a uniquely unsettling feeling, it's great to see that she's still got the ability to surprise people.

I much prefer artists trying hard (heh) to make something interesting and different than something we've heard a hundred times before.

We have to remember, they are artists. It's part of their path. Yes, there's a certain element of wanting to please and also being told what to do in some cases, but an artist often has to follow their own instincts and do something based on what inspires them at any given time.
