Each week, new releases from R&B/Hip Hop are selected to go head to head, with one weekly winner. The winners will then go up against future weekly winners later in the year at the end of each quarter and then again at the end of the year to determine the ultimate winner of 2026.

The results for last week are as follows;

01 Pia Mia - Underneath [04]

02 AJ Tracey, Blade Brown & Carns Hill - Ibiza [03]

03 Bellah & DESTIN CONRAD - Typical [02]

03 Don Toliver - Body [02]

06 Debbie - The Rain Isn't Over [01]

06 Fredo, Burna Boy & Steel Banglez - Birthday [01]

06 Professor Green & Zdot - No Management [01]

06 Sasha Keable - tell me what you want [01]

Love the Zayn song, his best in forever! Ella Mai is one of her stronger ones, shame the album isn't up to much at all. Really love Lolo even if she is capable of better, one of Sashas best but again wasn't fussed on the album.

I liked the vibe of Joji and Omah Lay, Marnz was okay. The rest weren't my thing and I apologise to anyone who had to listen to That Way - christ.

J. Cole is easily my favourite this week. 'Two Six' isn't one of my absolute faves from the album but it's definitely one of the most 'mainstream' sounding so I can see why it was picked as the single.

I liked the verses of 'Holding On' but those pitched vocals on the chorus sound horrible to my ears.

1 J. Cole

2 EsDeeKid

3 Lolo Zouaï

4 Ella Mai

5 King Promise

6 Joji

7 Marnz Malone

8 Omah Lay

9 ZAYN

10 Sasha Keable

The thought of a new J. Cole album is never exactly an exciting one for me but that is now 2/2 songs I've heard from it that I've really liked so maybe I should give it a chance. The EsDeeKid song doesn't quite hit as hard as his previous charting songs so I can see some level of diminishing returns but it's still a bit of a banger. Liking the melancholic vibe of the Lolo song and actually think the vocal effect in the chorus works well! A better song from Ella Mai here than the last one in this poll series but still nothing too crazy. LOL at the Backstreet Boys sample on the King Promise track - it's otherwise a solid afrobeats tune. 6-8 are all decent too, I did like the song that charted from Marnz more than this one though and hopefully there will be some more interesting songs on the Joji album as this one is a bit of a letdown compared to the last couple of singles. The ZAYN song is passable although it's lowkey giving Teddy Swims. I did like the song Sasha Keable made with Disclosure back in the day but her own music just isn't doing it for me.
