It feels like such a thing of the past now but do any of you still listen to the radio?

I never used to but this past year I leave it on for my dog while I'm out, usually a variation between Radio 1 Anthems, Hits Pride, Hits 00s, Heart 10s although I do like listening to Heart Scotland in the morning before work so I can get the news and time updates as I get ready 😅

I've been putting on Radio 1 Anthems through the work speaker as well as it seems to be the best mix for everyone

  • I now listen to more Radio 2 than 1 at 43 because it's just like having the past 60+ years of pop classics on shuffle, plus I'm never more than a few tunes away from an 80s anthem or something that's

Aww! My grandparents used to leave Classic FM on for their dog back in the day lol

Yes I listen to some radio! Especially in the background when working from home. I'd say BBC 6Music's playlist best suits my taste nowadays.

However, I also have a soft spot for Scott Mills on Radio 2. I listened to his first afternoon show in 2022 and have stuck with him ever since, into the breakfast era. I've kept track of every song played on his show in a big playlist lol I also quite like putting on a Fearne Cotton 'Sounds of the 90s' show on BBC Sounds. I find them both comforting as presenters and often enjoy their throwback music choices.

I still listen to the chart on BBC Radio 1 whenever possible as well. It's also the station of choice in both of my parents' cars, so I'm further exposed that way. I found my latest BJSC winner '808 HYMN' by Erin LeCount via their Future Pop show, which happened to be on in the car during a long drive. 🙏

I put on Greatest Hits Radio to play PopMaster during the week.

If I'm spending time with people outside, like a general gathering or barbecue, then I might throw on something like the aforementioned Radio 1 Anthems or Heart Dance, if not using one of my own playlists - those tend to go down well.

I've also been listening to people's old recordings of chart shows on a site called Mixcloud for about a decade, especially '90s and '00s ones.

I am subjected to Heart FM every driving lesson as my instructor always puts it on lol

Finally... my hairdresser always has Capital FM on so I hear that once every couple of months too.

I listen to more radio than I realised.

I still listen to a lot of radio, although not as much as I did as a kid. Especially when I'm driving, I still prefer radio as a nice break from listening to my usual playlists at home. My go-to is a college radio station with a wildly unpredictable playlist, I appreciate the mix of discoveries and "I forgot this song existed!" throwback moments. I also listen to a couple alternative stations here that are both passionate about music and good radio. As for online radio, I alternate between a station in Africa that I found several years ago, BBC Radio 1 (these days I only seem to tune in for the chart show and First Look), and old 2000s chart shows on Mixcloud.

I would like to a bit more actually as I have the TuneIn app which allows you to tune in (heh) to a huge number of radio stations from around the world. I used to put on random stations from various countries on that.

Using that app, my mum often puts on an Estonian radio station called Vikerraadio in the car so I'm exposed to that if I'm in the car with her. I think she's still quite nostalgic for Estonia (as am I sometimes) and this is one way for her to connect to her native country.

Occasionally there will be RTÉ Gold playing on the living room Echo Dot, which I've surprisingly enjoyed as well as the song selections tend to be really good. Even Tori Amos was played, which... I think it might be the first time I've heard Tori on the radio (granted, it was 'Cornflake Girl' which is a predictable choice).

I never listen live but listen to Future Sounds every week, subscribe to Pick of the Pops with Mark Goodier, Sounds of the 80s with Gary Davies and also the odd edition of Jo Wiley’s show on R2.

I now listen to more Radio 2 than 1 at 43 because it's just like having the past 60+ years of pop classics on shuffle, plus I'm never more than a few tunes away from an 80s anthem or something that's big right now.

I still listen to quite a bit of Radio 1 but not as much as I used to as it can get repetitive quickly and a lot of my favourite DJs have left over the past 5-6 years. Also, I tend to just Spotify lots of new stuff instead so never miss out on anything they're championing even if I don't listen for a few weeks.
