I'm not sure I've ever seen someone claim the UK does well for political reasons, or why those same reasons would now no longer apply.

Tbh, no one is allowed to doom anymore until at least we've heard the song.

It’s the same take I see from casual viewers every year. The UK only did well because every single person across every voting country in Eurovision listened to the news every day and knew the UK was “the biggest contributor to Ukraine”. They were fully braced with their phones when voting opened, not to vote for their favourite performances, but to thank Boris Johnson for all his hard work. The EBU supposedly nudged the UK into 2nd to host for them. Now the magic favour has worn off and the consecutive 0 points are proof that every single person suddenly hates the UK again. Funny how they never respond when asked why the UK has done terribly for 20+ years before that. Truly expert analysis.

I really don't see the problem with "nobodies", it's always the song, not the act, and you hearing of people does not mean they don't have talent. That you never heard of him doesn't mean he's a nobod

  • This year also has the additional notion that anyone with a fan base would surely just be making themselves a lamb to the slaughter, given many are boycotting this year due to Israel’s participation.

Who exactly had heard of Kalush, Nemo, JJ before Eurovision? Case closed.

Song is called 'Eins Zwei Drei' (that's 'one two three', if you're German!) and is out on Friday!

Interesting that our entry has a German title, at least!

Germany should send then send Jeans Team - Ich singe keine Melodien - ich singe 1 2 3 4. ;) Would score much better than Sarah boring Engels. My odds were on wavvyboi and he would have scored a decent place.

Looking forward to hear 1 2 3 on friday.

Lithuania having Spanish in the title, now this. Crossover divas.

Eins Zwei Drei. Tanzen!

The clip does indeed have Keine Melodien vibes, if performed by Ross Geller on his keyboard!

Electrifying, fying, in sonic time, time, time...

Sounds WAAAY better than the boring, screechy mess we had last year though

Out in New Zealand now and just had a listen. Not quite sure what I think. INo record label involved so the staging is going to be done on a budget which is a shame because this will need to be staged brilliantly for it be effective. Thomas Stengaard involved with the writing again so a song specifically written for Eurovision.

Intriguing entry, quite 90s Blur-esque vocals, a very bold direction for the BBC as it's not exactly Radio 2 catnip like usual.

It's catchy but remains to be seen if televoters get behind it or see it as a British novelty, depends how it's staged. Not sure there's going to be much jury grab, the UK going for televotes is an unexpected move indeed.

Some I'm An Albatraoz vibes to the melody for me too.

Starts promising but completely falls away in the middle. The lyrics though... come on rhyming mustard with custard really?

Shame as the production is pretty decent but this has bottom place written all over it I fear...

Great production, promising , but falls flat in terms of the actual song as a whole package. The lyrics are absolute bilge lol

There is no way Europe goes for this but I appreciate it as something different at least.

I'd have gone for Ross Gellar's keyboard productions kver this tbh!!

A German titled song in last place as always this year then

At least it's not a safe poop entry, and the bbc is tryin somethin new... Maybe next year is the year we get a Welsh, Hindi or Gaelic sang??

Well this has last place written all over it...

With the right staging, which it probably won't get (unless there are some really good on screen graphics I guess...), I could have seen this doing a Konstrakta or Hatari!

From what I've seen, his performance style doesn't lend itself well to anything other than a YouTube video other (granted, that's only a couple of vids)... In its favour, it is VERY instant!

Props the beeb for taking a risk though!

I enjoy this greatly for the most part - sure maybe some of the lyrics are a bit silly, but this is really what I like to see from an entry, bit of alt, bit of edge, hard beats, keeps to his sound very well - if the BBC have a good stage show in mind, may not do horribly.

Keep in mind that the accent, the Blur stylings, that is a big aid to the large amount of people who watch Eurovision with the expectation that they're going to see an entry embodying stereotypical traits of a country and while it's certainly not as strong a song for widespread success as the Cha Cha Chas/Rim Tim Tagi Dim/Espresso Macchiato's of the Eurovision world, it's aiming in that same area. Certainly, again, I don't know the field as well as I normally would at this stage, but this sort of song not being one of the more memorable entries of the night would be very unusual.
