March 5Mar 5 Author It's a karaoke climate and we all sing the same f***in' song#32. Move This Mountain - 7.031Highest Scores: 9.5: (Jade), Lowest Scores: 5: (Mango, dandy)At #32 is one of Sophie's earliest numbers 'Move This Mountain', which was released as a double a-side single alongside 'Get Over You' in June 2002 as the 3rd single from her debut album 'Read My Lips'. In most countries 'GOY' received a solo release, but in the UK, the two tracks were issued together. This song featured on the album's original release while the other featured on the re-release. Releasing both of these tracks together was a pretty smart move as they showed the two extremes of the album, but sadly this was one that got more or less ignored in terms of airplay and promotion. This is a stunning and rather experimental little melancholic synthpop ballad that leans towards her indie pop roots. A nice little track but perhaps doesn't quite stand out against its showier counterpart.#31. Crystalise - 7.066Highest Scores: 10: (Nina West), Lowest Scores:6: (Jessie Where, Viper, JosephStyles, Jade, HarryGarfield)At #31 is 'Crystalise', released in October 2016 as the 2nd single from her 6th studio album 'Familia'. A stunning and tender piano led ballad that showcases Sophie's vocal maturity and depth perfectly. Elegant and polished this not only a firm standout on the album, but its one of my personal faves in Sophie's extensive and brilliant discography.#30. A Pessimist Is Never Disappointed (theaudience) - 7.178Highest Scores: 9: (gooddelta), Lowest Scores: 5.5: (Josh)At the #30 is the final single from 'theaudience' to feature here with what is arguably their most popular single 'A Pessimist Is Never Disappointed', released in May 1998 as the 3rd single from their debut self-titled album and #27 on the UK singles chart, becoming their first top 40 hit. This is easily their most commercially appealing and seductive song to date. It probably helped that the song had a limited edition vinyl record available upon its release. The song was performed by Sophie on her 'Read My Lips' solo tour in 2002 and was re-recorded with orchestral arrangement for her greatest hits compilation 'The Song Diaries' in 2019.

March 5Mar 5 'Move This Mountain' so low 🥺 at least my score helped to pull its average up to 7+that downtempo sound is right up my street 💞

'Shoot From The Hip', 'Trip The Light Fantastic' & 'Make A Scene' are the only ones that hasn't lost any singles yet, but for how long.
March 5Mar 5 Author There will just be 2 entries to drop next up until the top 25 which will be in single posts.
March 5Mar 5 Nothing super shocking has left yet by my votes I mean but intrigued to see what Sophie tracks do well
March 5Mar 5 That's definitely the best TheAudience single! A nice jaunty sing-a-long number.Sophie said at the time that 'Move This Mountain' was her favourite song on the album, so I'm guessing that's why it was tacked on as a double A-side to the new song (Get Over You). A beaut for sure, and definitely shows a different side to the album!
March 6Mar 6 Author Desire swallows up my pride#29. Can't Fight This Feeling (ft Junior Caldera) - 7.233Highest Scores: 9: (Liam.k.), Lowest Scores: 4: (dandy)At #29 is 'Can't Fight This Feeling' a collaboration between French disc jockey Junior Caldera & Sophie Ellis-Bextor. Released in 2010 as the 4th single from Junior's debut album 'Debut' and was also the 2nd single from Sophie's 4th studio album 'Make A Scene'. The single was released in France prior to the release of Sophie's follow-up single 'Bittersweet'. The song charted quite well in some countries by reaching top 20 peaks in France, Latvia & Poland as well as topping various airplay charts worldwide. A cute high energy disco dance track that felt rather dated by the time 'Make A Scene' was finally released in 2011. It's fine but not one of my faves.#28. Stay On Me - 7.281Highest Scores: 9/9.5: (Josh, Scene), Lowest Scores: 5: (dandy, Jester)At #28 is 'Stay On Me', released in September 2025 as the 6th and final single from Sophie's 8th studio album 'Perimenopop' and was written by Sophie herself, Selena Gomez, Caroline Ailin, Julia Michaels and Thomas Hull with production handled by Hull himself also and additional production by Richard Jones and uncredited backing vocals by Selena Gomez. Originally the song was a lot more flirty, but instead she wanted it to ring true to her life and made it about the beauty of a long romance after her 20th wedding anniversary to Richard Jones. A solid little bop, slick and smooth production, crisp vocals and catchy hooks. A strong standout moment on the album and glad that its done pretty well on here with a solid average. March 6Mar 6 It's a shame 'Can't Fight This Feeling' wasn't given a UK release, although at that point I'm doubtful it would've done anything for her anyway.'Stay On Me' is fab, I love the frenetic energy of it.
March 6Mar 6 Yeah 'Stay On Me' is a bit of a tune. It's crazy that she got to release 6 singles from the album!
March 7Mar 7 Author Do you want to hear what's in my head?#27. Runaway Daydreamer - 7.312Highest Scores: 11: (Paddington James), Lowest Scores: 5/5.5: (Josh, Jester)'Runaway Daydreamer' lands at #27 here which manages the rare feat of getting an 11 score and no 10's, it did get quite a few high scores, but was brought down the ranking by a few 5's and 6's. Released in March 2014 as the 2nd single from Sophie's 5th studio album 'Wanderlust'. Composed by Ed Harcourt with additional writing by Sophie herself and was written in a way resemblant of nursery rhymes. A beautiful dreamy chamber pop track that has a nice fairytale like tone to it. Sophie delicate vocals sound polished on here, perhaps this felt a little too similar to the lead single 'Young Blood' for it to fully stand out, but a well accomplished little track nonetheless.#26. Breaking The Circle - 7.531Highest Scores: 10: (Mango), Lowest Scores: 5: (Jessie Where, Jester)This actually had the same score as the song that will drop at #25, but placed lower due to the other song getting more high scores. At #26 is 'Breaking The Circle', released in February 2023 as the lead single from Sophie's 7th studio album 'Hana' and is the last from the standard edition of that album to feature here. A stunning synth heavy indie pop track with solid vocals, upbeat rhythms and a euphoric tone. It's a broad yet intimate little number that really resonates with you. Hoped that this would have gotten a little higher on here, a underrated gem in her discography for sure.
March 7Mar 7 Breaking the Circle deserved better. The production is my favourite thing about it but it’s definitely among the best of her later singles
March 8Mar 8 Author Nothing on my mind except a cool drink#25. Dolce Vita - 7.531Highest Scores: 10: (Scene), Lowest Scores: 5: (Viper)At #25 is 'Dolce Vita', released in July 2025 as the 5th single from Sophie Ellis-Bextor's 8th studio album 'Perimenopop' and was written by Sophie herself alongside Samuel Robert Knowles, Ron Tyson, Norman Harris, Allan Wayne Felder, David Arnold, Clementine Douglas, and Baz Kaye. A smooth and vibrant little bop with breezy synths and stunning strings. Once again Sophie delivers another banger from her most recent studio album.
