Would rate "Ain't Nobody" a little bit lower, but it is a great soul classic. Agree with Mango that "Yesterday" is a bit overhyped and boring - not among my favourite Beatles songs.

  • Yes, I can confirm I'll be hosting the number 9 poll next year.

  • Or maybe Bananarama's version leans in more to people's pop tastes rather than being to do with recency? A 40 year old song isn't really that much more recent compared to a 56 year old song!

Yesterday is OK, I remember it was one of the very first song in English I was lernt to sing. I was like 12 or sth.

Ain't Nobody is one of those songs that sounds fantastic both as original and (most of) the covers. Richard X's version being even better than original for me, LL's being 2nd fav.

Ain't Nobody is extremely catchy, a deserved R&B classic. I've always loved Yesterday, obviously not one of their best songs but one that I've been fond of for most of my life.

‘Yesterday’ was the last of my original nominees going out. I agree with many others saying it’s a lovely song but not near the top of my favourite Beatles tracks.

Just interested to see the final verdict on that top 6 and which song will go on that roll of honour!

Love both of these songs. For me the original production of Ain’t Nobody is now a bit dated - but the song itself is amazing.

Yesterday is the defintion of a dirge

The best 'version' of 'Ain't Nobody' is Delilah's 'Go' x

Ain't Nobody is a classic of its genre - not a genre I'm hugely into so didn't score it very high personally, but still appreciate its excellence.

Agree with others who don't have Yesterday anywhere near their favorite Beatles songs. It's never really done anything for me

Green Day won the number 5 single poll three years ago with 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams' and they have a high placing again this year with another track from the 'American Idiot' album. The title comes from something the group's frontman, Billie Joe Armstrong, said to his mother after his father's funeral.

From 2001, In The End was the first top 10 hit for the Californian rock band. With more than 3 billion streams, it has a place in Spotify's top 50 most streamed songs of all-time list. The single returned to the top 20 in 2017 following the suicide of Chester Bennington.

This is one of my favourite Green Day songs, so happy it made the Top 10. "In The End" is OK, but Linkin Park was never among my favourite bands.

Green Day is OK, but Linkin Park is my childhood soundtrack so I am so happy it is that high

Thought In The End had a chance of winning based on glancing at the scores as they came in... but 5th place feels more about right to me.

I preferred Greenday's earlier stuff - was (and still am) shocked that they won the #5 poll - but I guess this shows it was no fluke. (The American Idiot fans have stuck around since the #5 poll but the OK Computer fans have disappeared since the #4 poll..?)

Another two crackers. The four singles from American Idiot are four of Green Day's best songs so I'm happy to see 'Wake Me Up When September Ends' in the top 10. 'In The End' also one of Linkin Park's best.

I have no idea what 4 songs are remaining! 'Dancing On My Own' must be one of them, right? EDIT: I think I've worked out what the other three are but I'll keep quiet in case people don't want to know, I don't know what the etiquette is on this kinda poll!

Two great songs, though Green Day were by far the lowest of my remaining tracks. I thought Linkin Park were going to win, but I can’t complain as they are only one place lower than I placed them.

I think it will now be Robyn v Enola Gay for the win - though Smooth Criminal is my highest remaining track - and the only one I initially placed above In The End.

Smooth Criminal and Dancing On My Own are the only songs left from my original nominations, though both Back To Black and Enola Gay just missed out on an initial nomination, and all four are in my top 15 tracks in the final.

Hi Twin! I completely agree with you about Green Day and Linkin Park. Though maybe we can’t be twins anymore, as you don’t know what four songs are left 🤣.

Love Green Day and American Idiot but find Wake Me Up is one of the tracks I don't go back to as often. In The End is an all-time classic even if the nu-metal rap is cheesy, hits so much harder after Chester's death.
