To give some context to my film soundtrack choice, it's from a very moving Swedish film from 2000 called Livet är en schlager, which I highly recommend (if you can find it - it used to be on Netflix but now isn't).

It's about a woman who loves Melodifestivalen and who works as a PA to a guy who has cerebal palsy. He has written a song, and she writes lyrics for it and submits it to perform herself at the show without his knowledge. This is the song, and the climax of the film, it's a very touching schlager ballad, the whole soundtrack is great if you are a khia into Swedish culture.

my brain told me to go for something that would be more palatable to the BJSC public, but instead I went with my heart 🧡 first K-pop boy group I’ve sent to anything BJSC related since Stray Kids 5 years ago, so don’t say I didn’t warn you if y’all do end up hating it

JUSTB’s genre shift has been amazing to see, going from more generic boy band fodder to this sorta complextro/hyperpop sound à la Frost Children, which also slightly coincides with one of their members coming out last year, the entire album this song comes from was in my potentials at one point and it’s a true gem in the genre

I simply had to send MONDO GROSSO again, purely cos I sent during BJSC 100 and I didn't realise what everyone else was going to send that contest LOL

ooh I knew there was a reason I thought I'd seen the name of your song before, possibly I've even heard it. I haven't seen that show (a TV show spinoff of the films I believe), only Ghost In The Shell content I've ever seen is the excellent original 90s film, but hype, that has a vibes advantage for me and Yoko's always good value.

I do also already know and approve of the AURORA and Vampire Weekend songs, a couple of others that look familiar but I don't recall as well. Intrigue to hear the rest, cool to see Nihiloxica showing up in another contest particularly - I wanted to send them to Club Bizarre before in the Asia/South America/Africa contest but was blocked as Rollo beat me to them! Meanwhile I did actually send 4hero to Club Bizarre before so an unexpected sight to see Lookylion of all countries bringing them back to another contest. (Vampire Weekend are also a Persephonia recycle technically as I sent 'Cousins' to the main contest in my very early years before I swore off sending such cheapness / before such cheapness would have not been allowed anyway x)

edit: omg how can I not mention the Coconut Mall theme as well - now that's truly iconic

Still Blue is a great choice, I considered that for the main contest last year <3 Best of Both Worlds is similarly iconic for different reasons *__

Shame not everyone submitted something, but glad we got a great turnout anyway.
