Go for a toilet break! That's what I did when 'Madame X' was announced, think I was gone 20 minutes! 😂

What I am loving most is that this feels like what Madonna was great at for about 2.5 decades: an album. A shared collective vision and statement told from start to end with a consistent theme and vibe running through it. Hard Candy was perhaps her last album to even attempt this, whereas MDNA, Rebel Heart and Madame X (to a lesser extent), felt very disjointed and more "throw everything at the wall and see what sticks". Madame X tried to have a vision but I don't think it was executed well in retrospect.

What makes Madonna great is her ability to craft an entire era through an album. It is what so many popstars try to do (but can't execute it to her standard).

This feels like it belongs with her back catalogue firmly and proves what makes Madonna, Madonna.

This has so many valid points and I couldn’t have worded this better. The only thing I’d controversially say is I feel like Madame X was an album maybe not executed well but it was for me her best body of work since Confessions 1.0. I think Hard Candy through to Rebel Heart had more of a she was chasing trends and not following them and it felt more focused on trying to maintain commercial success than fully boundary pushing.

But this album is like a return to form she was definitely inspired!

Danceteria is the best thing she's done in FOREVER. My God.

Can't wait to listen to the full album later tonight!

OK what does #1 on AMUK actually mean!? Is that usually achieved by the big pop albums?

I think it was fairly obvious that this was going to #1 album on AM. Most of the streaming points for albums come from track streams on Spotify anyway (which is where MJ and other GH albums shine).

I said in the prediction thread that this could do 8-10k in streams and I am still sticking with that. 8k at least is given.

Quite disappointed on my first listen.

Too much spoken word for me. Gets a bit tired.

Lyrics are a bit cringe in places.

Struggling to identify anything that would work as a hit single.

I've been looking forward to this for so long I'm not giving up yet and hope it grows on me.

In a bar in the old town in Rethymno and they’re playing Danceteria mixed with Into the Groove. Not enough disco emojis in the world for this.

All of the songs that have a collaborator or a featured artist are available in a standalone release on DSPs. This is a great strategy because it will give more exposure to the album in my opinion when fans or casual listeners to a certain artist go to their profile, check that they have a new song out and see that it's a collaboration with Madonna.

Mayb3 Raye could finally find hers then 😮

This is really good some of her best work ever already given it multiple spins on day 1 which is a very rare feat for me

Just a fantastic album. ‘Fragile’ is indeed THE ONE for me rn. What an absolute BEAUT!

As expected, this was an amazing and incredible album. "Danceteria" and "Bizarre" were my favourites, followed by "Everything" and "School".
