It’s incredible that Aphrodite only sold 882 copies on release week on vinyl!

I remember not even wanting it on vinyl and just bought it for the collection (and have been glad I did ever since!).

Let's hope we don't have to wait until 2055 to get 2,055 sales

The store selling them has released a statement to say they listed them too early due to Parlophone Canada. So pleased we are finally getting them and hopefully they are not limited, an artist like K

I'm happy that we got new sales totals! Plus it's quite interesting to see how many vinyl copies that Light Years, Aphrodite and Kiss Me Once sold originally, and how much they sold in that format with the 2026 reissues.

I've compiled that info together:

X

Light Years

#87 - 2,066 sales [1,972 sales: vinyl / 94 sales: other]
2018 vinyl release: 2,456 sales

2018 + 2026 vinyl combined: 4,428 sales

Aphrodite

#95 - 2,005 sales [1,959 sales: vinyl / 46 sales: other]

2010 vinyl release: 882 sales

2010 + 2026 vinyl combined: 2,841 sales

Kiss Me Once

#133 - 1,542 sales [1,528 sales: vinyl / 14 sales: other]

2014 vinyl release: 2,477 sales

2014 + 2026 vinyl combined: 4,005 sales

Summary -

Original Release Year Vinyl Sales:

2,477 - Kiss Me Once (2014 release)

2,456 - Light Years (2018 release)

882 - Aphrodite (2010 release)

2026 Reissue Vinyl Sales:

3,739 - X (first time on vinyl)

1,972 - Light Years

1,959 - Aphrodite

1,528 - Kiss Me Once

Overall Vinyl Sales:

4,428 - Light Years [contributing 0.85% of the overall total of Light Years]

4,005 - Kiss Me Once [4.09% of the overall total]

3,739 - X [0.77% of the overall total]

2,841 - Aphrodite [0.80% of the overall total]

Thank you for this post and for putting it together, i love getting this type of information.

Thank you for sharing the comparisons.

Does the 2014 KMO total Inc both the red box and separate vinyl?

I’m guessing we don’t have access to total vinyl sales just those reported on release week?

Doing housework so been playing the latest X Blue and Aphrodite. Aside from my record player seeming to play any vinyl slightly too fast , both sound great.

I guess the Kiss Me Once figure would include both variants!

Outside of these four albums, I don't think it's known how many copies her other albums have sold on vinyl to date. It would be very interesting to know! I guess her debut album would be her biggest seller on vinyl? I'm not sure what the split between vinyl, cassette and CD sales would have been in 1988/89.

Well I’m pretty certain the debut sold the most on vinyl, expect 100s of thousands!

Weirdly typed in ‘kylie vinyl’ on google and a link which I can no longer reload enabled me to buy Kiss Me Once vinyl for less than £10 via Temu.

Hopefully it’s genuine!

Bargain! I keep seeing adverts for vinyl on Temu on Instagram and the prices are always really low.

Am sure it’ll be genuine.

Regarding KMO: assuming, 14 other sales came from streaming, let's say it's adding 10 sales per week. It needed 2055 more sales, so it would take 206 weeks or 4 years to reach gold, so way before 2055. 💫 Hopefully by the end of 2030!

So frustratingly close yet so far! I need something from KMO to go viral on TIkTok so it can snatch its long overdue gold award!

The viral moment wont happen for KMO.

I cancelled it because apparently Temu/ Ali express etc aren’t official sellers and are full of bootlegs.

Sales aren’t included for chart purposes either, happy to be proven wrong but if that is the case I’ll buy KMO from an official music retailer…KMO needs that gold certification!!!

Temu is largely bootlegs and fakes.

I’ll delete the app too, it was so weird how I came across the link in the first place. It came up in the google shopping options alongside the usual Amazon/ HMV etc so I just clicked it…doesn’t show up now with the same search terms.

Yes that’s the major downside - they don’t count towards any charts.

However, I’m sure there are bootlegs but apparently they buy up excess vinyl in bulk from suppliers so sell them for really low prices (there are loads of ‘flop’ vinyl albums on there for a few £!).

The description for KMO and other vinyl albums didn’t seem genuine once I looked into it in more detail…e.g. mock up image, vinyl of any colour, no sleeve. All via a non descript seller.

…. however I also saw a Sabrina Carpenter blue vinyl that didn’t come with any disclaimer and was distributed by Chalkys. That’s probably a genuine one.

Ah definitely a bootleg then it seems! drama
