An England Argentina semi final would be epic.

I know I say this all the time but can the final not be at the Azteca, a footballing cathedral unlike those stadiums in the north east of US, Kraft beer stadiums for nfl franchises with relaid grass ffs

Super impressive performance, especially with England being down to 10 for so much. Getting those two Bellingham goals in before that happened was such a boon.

I wasn't able to stay up but put my phone on airplane mode and watched the replay from 7-9 on BBC2 so could avoid spoilers that way. It was a funny reminder how in this day and age spoilers are basically pushed to you left right and centre, as as soon as I turned airplane mode off about five notifications came in from various sources sent early this morning.

Argentina haven’t really played anyone good yet. They’re being horrendously overrated imo. Wouldn’t shock me at all if they didn’t even make the semis ala Brazil.

What a performance. Genuinely cannot remember in my lifetime an England knockout result like that. Tuchel played a blinder in the second half with his tactical changes.

The match with Norway will be England's 11th World Cup quarter-final. Only Brazil and Germany have reached more World Cup quarter-finals. Brazil have had 15 quarter-finals, and Germany have had 14.

Still second favourites though behind France and ahead of Spain and England. No team has ever retained the trophy but they hope to.

I predict England - France final with the country going wild that weekend, especially if it. warm. Cue BBQ's and drinking.

I’ll be honest, I can’t see Argentina beating France. Not sure I see much value in Argentina, I think Colombia will give them an incredibly difficult game if they get through vs Switzerland.

It's actually happened twice. Italy won it in 1934 & 1938, Brazil in 1958 & 1962. It's winning it three times in a row that has never been done.

See this is where I think England get a hard time and are quite underrated. Brazil and Germany are (rightly) seen as excellent teams but then Argentina, France, Spain, Portugal seem to have better reputations than the English team yet they have a better track record.

Anyways, impressive achievement.

Goodness lol, one of my best friends is French and we already have a great friendly rivalry, this would be another epic showdown between me and him. 😂

It's even more weird when in reality, Spain have been terrible to average in World Cups for about 40 years notwishstaning the 2010 World Cup when they bored everyone to death!

Spain's poor World Cup record has been glossed over because their triumph in 2010 was sandwiched between winning two Euros in a row so seeing them lift silverware didn't feel like such a strange thing around that time. Of course they've since added another Euros title and a Nations League title along the way.

Spain were always considered the perennial underachievers at World Cups prior to their 2010 victory. I think they only made the Semis once ever before then and of course have yet to do since as well.

It's their Euros prowess that has helped elevate their status. And of course because their domestic league contains 2 of the biggest clubs in the world so people link great players to the country.

Haven't conceded a goal yet in 5 matches. They'd be the only team to not concede in 6.

It’s a pretty devoid arguement bo matter what now as they are one of the most successful international teams of the century.
