Looks like the lower reaches of 40-11 are getting more play due to them being occupied by playlisted tracks.

The playlist doesn't have any bearing on the chart show though.

Biography

A sensitive troubadour for the age of social media, Sombr places equal emphasis on sound and soul-baring lyrics. "Caroline," the viral hit that helped the singer/songwriter escalate from indie status to a major label while he was still in his teens, relied on cinematic vistas and rolling harmonies as much as his dramatic vocals. By the time he released the EP In Another Life in 2023, Sombr was collaborating with Tony Berg -- a producer known for his work with Phoebe Bridgers and Michael Penn -- and opening up his music in ways he continued to explore on the 2024 single "In Your Arms" and his 2025 Top 40 hit "Undressed." After landing another Top 40 hit with "Back to Friends," he made his full-length debut in 2025 with the breakup-themed I Barely Know Her. - Apple Music

This next new entry features Inde Navarrette (fresh off starring in Curry Barker's film Obsession, which I saw on my American trip) in the music video as the love interest.

I'm not the biggest fan of sombr but gotta admit this sounds pretty decent on first listen

I love Potential too - not sure yet which I prefer but I'll always take upward movement for sombr.

Haven't been too crazy about the last couple of sombr singles but will give it time to grow

This is up to a new peak of #22 on Spotify today so looks like it could be sticking around

'Potential' was a misstep for me but this one is better - maybe about on a similar level to 'undressed' (which is my least fave of his top 10 hits but still good x).

Does anyone else hear a bit of Robbie in it or am I mad x

Biography

Tame Impala transformed psychedelic rock—and 21st century pop—in such an impactful way that even Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Kanye couldn’t resist the band's influence. The brainchild of Australian musician Kevin Parker, Tame Impala serve as both a blistering and blissed-out exercise in expansion—of sound, space, and the mind. “I’m the most creative when I’m uncomfortable,” Parker told Apple Music. “The idea of doing what I’m already good at is boring because it’s always gotta be a little bit frightening.” That fear has been a powerful motivator for Parker, who started Tame Impala in 2007 from his Perth home. His appetite for guitar experimentation—powered by an arsenal of reverb, phaser, delay, and fuzz pedals—made his 2010 debut album, InnerSpeaker, one of the year’s standout indie releases. On 2012’s Lonerism, he loaded up on synths, found inspiration in Todd Rundgren, and locked into woozy pop grooves made of both dreams (“Be Above It”) and nightmares (“Feels Like We Only Go Backwards”). He also got far more personal. As Parker has looked further inward, his music—and musical circle—has continued to expand outward. By the mid-2010s, he was collaborating with Mark Ronson, producing Gaga, and inspiring Rihanna (who covered “New Person, Same Old Mistakes”). But Tame Impala has remained his “sacred space,” an outlet that has allowed him to embrace funk (2015’s Currents), dance music (2020’s The Slow Rush), and all the infinite possibilities yet to be discovered. - Apple Music

Biography

“I try not to overthink songs,” Zara Larsson told Apple Music in 2019. Instead, the Swedish singer feels most on point when she’s able to “just feel it.” Larsson’s ability to convey that mix of youthful confidence and emotional intensity helped make her one of Europe’s biggest new music stars while she was still in her teens. Born in 1997 in a suburb of Stockholm, Larsson first found fame in Sweden when her performance of Céline Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” clinched her victory on a TV talent show at the age of 10. After leaving school to focus on her music full time, she released her debut album, 1, in 2014, which topped the charts throughout Scandinavia and landed her a U.S. record deal. By the time she was scoring international hits alongside rapper Tinie Tempah on “Girls Like” and guesting on David Guetta’s “This One’s for You”, she was fast developing beyond the familiar dance-pop templates and demonstrating a boldness that evoked Beyoncé and Rihanna, two of her biggest influences. (She paid tribute to another inspiration a few years later when she released a sumptuous cover of Robyn’s “With Every Heartbeat”.) “Never Forget You”, a thrilling collaboration with singer and producer MNEK that also marked Larsson’s first songwriting effort, became her first major U.S. success. Together with the album So Good, the song established the power and allure of Larsson’s sleek yet impassioned brand of EDM-powered pop. - Apple Music

I think the record company saw how he had so many simultaneous tracks last year and put it out too early. People weren't done with Homewrecker yet. That went ACR last week, this came out directly after.

This Sombr song isn’t sounding anywhere near as good as any of his big 4 on 1st listen.

No. He's writing safe. For the algorithm. First line about 4th July coming out the week before 4th July. And the meme title 'My body isn't ready' that he plays completely straight in the song.

Sombr much more popular in the UK than Benson Boone atm.

Sombr's personality is a bit on the meh side, but his repertoir is consistently good.

Another big hit on the way for Sombr? I actually think this is one of his lesser top 40 hits but still solid!

The rub from being name dropped and being photographed with Taylor effect 🩵

Fits how the UK loved singer songwriters like Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley etc.
