We all know 2015 - 2017 was the peak for the girls commercially but after re-listening to LM5 the other day, I feel this is where Little Mix reached their peak overall lyrically, vocally & performance wise.

This album had the most in depth lyrics of any Little Mix album & each girl shines vocally throughout. Monster In Me is that one song where it all comes together nicely - the lyrics, the vocals. It's a shame we never got a live performance on tour.

Woman Like Me is also their best Brits performance by far. Absolute insane choreography & perfect vocals followed by their most exciting tour later in the year.

Only mistake made was more singles weren't released from the album & the singles run should have been:

July 2018: Woman Like Me

November 2018: LM5 Album Release

January 2019: Monster In Me

April 2019: Think About Us

July 2019: Wasabi

Eh, the Brits performance was pretty good visually but the lip syncing is embarrassingly obvious at times - mostly Leigh - which ruins it for me.

I actually thought that while LM5 was the most cohesive album and did alot for their credibility, I thought it was also a bit too serious sounding for me and had no obvious hit singles. For most of their career they either leaned too Disney/High School Musical (DNA, Get Weird) or too serious and dark (Salute, LM5) and I think the Confetti era was actually them at their peak because the music was very commercial and pop but also had that mature, sexy edge (Sweet Melody, Confetti, Holiday) or pure pop done right without cringey lyrics (Break Up Song) and their styling was on point.

I have to agree - confetti was their peak for me in terms of sound & edginess.

I do think confetti feels most like peak them because its the first album where they arnt being held back by syco chains, and the first album where they could truly be themselves

I might need to relisten to LM5 actually as I honestly thought Get Weird was their peak musically.

I thought Glory Days was them chasing commercial, LM5 was honestly just noise for me and Confetti - now I regard this one really highly - but loads of people say it's full of bsides and the girls were super checked out.

I agree with you that they were able to be themselves during the confetti era but the fact that the girls weren't truly invested in it themselves at that point & were ready to call it a day, I think it kind of over-shadows the campaign a bit.

Yeah, confetti had some higher highs then LM5 with Sweet Melody, Confetti, Happiness & Break Up Song but as an overall package, LM5 just hits better. The ballads are 10x better on LM5 as well.

LM5 could have been a big seller if it wasn't for the label change & the lack of singles.

They were as invested as you can be when in the midst of a global pandemic that meant they couldnt even meet up for 😅 heck they even hosted MTV EMAs virtually, and put on a concert at the Woman like me set as well how more invested could they be

Monster In Me is one of their absolute best songs and I can't believe they just did nothing with it (not like anything was handled particularly well this era), in general this album had so many gems and I wish it got the flowers it deserved.

Their 6 albums actually come in 2 sets of 3’s for me.

I feel like both lots of trilogies follow the same kind of pattern?

DNA & Glory Days was them sending a message that they’re a girl band who can do pop like no other. They had something to prove at these moments.

Salute & LM5, imo, are the two albums all 4 girls WANTED to make and they came right in between their big pure pop moments. Also I think these are the 2 that are their “artistic peaks”. They had distinct sounds that felt authentic to who they were/wanted to be as artists.

Get Weird & Confetti were them reminding people that they excel at pop and getting “casuals” back on board with more radio friendly, made for chart success efforts.

Monster In Me & Wasabi both deserved their moments to shine. I know Wasabi kind of got a music video & performances on tour but it should have got a proper push with an incredible music video to along side it.

Yes i was shocked at Monster in Me being thrown away like that. Not even a live performance! When the album was released, I told friends I was convinced it was going to be a single. How wrong I was!

My issue with LM5 though is that it doesn't actually feel cohesive. Most of the trackss are fantastic. But an album with Monster in Me, The Cure, Notice; then Joan of Arc, Strip, and Wasabi; then Love a Girl Right and American Boy.. feels like a whiplash flip-flop across genres. Not necessarily a bad thing as all of these songs are amazing IMO. Still my favourite LM album regardless

For me, it’s their best album. It’s the one I find the most enjoyable to listen to—cohesive, consistent, and genuinely high quality. With their other albums, I feel like half the songs are basically rejects.

And now, every time I listen to this album, it hurts knowing that Wasabi wasn’t the second single. That song could have taken them to an entirely different level of success. I honestly don’t understand how they decided not to make it a single. It’s such a shame that the song never reached a much wider audience, because it’s an absolute masterpiece.

I think people are forgetting the syco drama literally weeks after the release of Woman like Me and the album was released under hostile terms ,

Considering everything that was going on we were lucky to even get a second single at all 😬
