I think it's just Do Not Read This Journal may not live up to familiarity of I Barely Knew Her as an album..

The songs on that album were just better. Even the tracks before that were.

I suspect his label have encouraged him to write for TikTok and it hasn't worked outside of Homewrecker.

He said during the last album that he often completed writing songs after snippets gained traction on TikTok (probably not the only artist who does that) so this isn't a thing that began with Homewrecker.

Biography

Steeped in classic country, contemporary pop, and rootsy Southern rock, Ella Langley's songs showcase her unfiltered songwriting and gritty yet honeyed voice. While scoring hits like 2022's "Damn You," the Alabama-raised singer/songwriter penned Elle King's similarly outspoken "Out Yonder." Langley's banner 2023 included the release of her EP Excuse the Mess -- which featured the singles "Country Boy's Dream Girl" and "That's Why We Fight (featuring Koe Wetzel)" -- the Tanner Usrey duet "Beautiful Lies," and her Grand Ole Opry debut, all of which led up to the 2024 release of her booze-stained debut album, the Billboard 200-charting hungover. It included her Hot 100 Top 40 debut, "You Look Like You Love Me" (featuring Riley Green). She returned in 2026 with the Billboard 200-topping Dandelion, featuring her viral hit "Choosin' Texas," a song co-written by Miranda Lambert. - Apple Music

Lucky x

Waay Ella Langley get's her second entry into the top 40. Been loving this recently.

Think I'll just have to accept I'm never going to like commercial Nashville country, do not get the appeal at all

I was wondering if Miranda Lambert had a hand in writing this one like 'Choosin' Texas' but she has a producer credit instead this time!

It's actually my first time listening to Be Her in full outside of that Ella Langley musical autopsy..

19 weeks for Be Her to make the top 40

Once again Ella the queen of the slow chart run !

This will be number 1 in a year's time !

Its so weird because they released this with its 'it was the 4th july' lyric just before the 4th July to get people to put it on their 4th July videos very obviously.
