I definitely assumed someone was likely to be going home in round one as it's part of how this style of format usually works on the shows (and indeed as others have mentioned last time was more an anomaly to the usual format for a shock twist)

I do get that it will be disappointing for people if they happen to go first but song selection and taking risks and then nervously waiting to see if they pay off or not is kinda part of the game isn't it?

I would say if we have a redemption round it’s one act from each category. Just to avoid multiple female artists getting back in

I’m fine with going out first from a competition perspective but I’d feel bad for not having properly showcased my artist, particularly as artists can’t be recycled.

Nobody that bothered about a listenthrough then so I'm going to do my own listen now instead, happy to offer again for future rounds if it's wanted.

Yeah this is my thinking also. Now that the competition has started, the posters who’ve signed up will want to show up for their acts and promote them as best they can (especially the lesser known acts).

It’s always going to be a shame to those that exit early as they may feel they’ve failed their artist and haven’t got to share some of their great songs in their back catalogue.

I can see that side of things to be fair. If it does stay as it is (or to be honest even if it doesn't) this point is where I liked it last year when people posted to explain about why they chose their acts once they had gone out as it made me still read more about the acts and people's connections to them... and within that I'd be really happy to also take time to listen to a few other songs by those acts as well if the people who sent them included ones they really would have loved to send etc.

I guess I probably missed that out because I, coincidentally, went MIA when Guitarricadelafuente was eliminated some days later and I didn't have the chance to explain why I picked him, even it was a surprise for me when a song of him was chosen out of nowhere later when I came back, lol!

It only happened once Calum had announced who was behind those people who'd been knocked out - and not everyone did it, just those of us that wanted to finally be able to talk a bit more about the acts we'd sent. So last year it was only once we were certain that Calum had no more tricks up his sleeve to bring anyone back - so I'm definitely not suggesting people should break anonymity at all before Calum has chosen to reveal them or he'd likely be most unhappy with me

Voted for the women, probs gonna have to have 2 listens of the men and groups as I arent as familiar with their songs before I vote

Me too! Love a results show. That said, I shall be at work but will do my best to find a vacant toilet for 20 minutes.

I think the Swedes could be in danger tbh - though maybe not so much in the Groups category? The results should be interesting!

Hypothetically, would it make sense to know before the results what the theme of the next round would be to line up our next song (if we qualify) so it can be revealed at the end of the results show rather than waiting 24 hours for the next round to start?

I guess it would mean planning ahead your next entry and not having any kind of advantage over another artist and the possibility that you won't get to send that song if you don't qualify past the current round.

I'm just thinking maybe if a form went up 24 hours before the results for that round then people could submit their next choices ready for Calum to approve or decline when he comes to reveal who is safe and who will go?

Then I guess the participants submitted their song within a few (or 24) hours, enabling the next round to properly commence either later that evening or the following day?

Yeah from what I can remember everyone was fairly speedy in putting their songs in, so the next round's were up fairly quickly.

I guess everyone has a few potentials for the next round, regardless of any potential category/ theme. Or even a go-to Album track/ flop in case you need it. I've got a playlist of most of my potential songs to send, which I was hammering over the weekend. I don't think it helped though 🤣
