Tove Lo not having the best time on the forum lately with her Pop Factor boot and my nom 'True Disaster' bombing x

So many brutal drops this year but especially that one for The xx, oh dear... 😭

That's a pretty good top 5 though and I'm glad 'Charlemagne' and 'Somebody Else' are still advancing to the semis despite the falls.

Some big drops here and songs which slip out of last years Top 40/ Auto-Qualifying zone. ‘Saint Claude’ drops a massive 33 places this year from 31-64, whilst ‘Redbone’ also has a big drop as it falls 30 places from 25-55. ‘One Dance; drops from 32-56 and ‘Ride’ dips 34 to 51. There’s also big drops for ‘Never Enough’ which drops 23-49 and ‘Blue Lights’ which slides 27-48. There are some good climbs though for a few songs; ‘Say You Do’ climbs from 105 to 74 and ‘Unstoppable’ climbs from 101 to 63, ‘Treat You Better’ also has a strong finish as it climbs 76 to 57.

Should also be noted that we do have 1 song which gained a nomination, but no points in the actual vote. Poor, brave ‘Tuesday’. upsidedowndog

Would be Auto-Qualifyers

40 54 Porter Robinson & Madeon – Shelter 165

39 43 Chainsmokers (feat. Daya) - Don't Let Me Down 165

38 17 Charli XCX - Vroom Vroom 169

37 56 Adele - Send My Love (To Your New Lover) 170

36 33 Fifth Harmony - That's My Girl 175

35 24 Little Mix - Shout Out To My Ex 178

34 51 Dua Lipa - Blow Your Mind (Mwah) 179

33 45 Frank Ocean - Pink + White 190

32 38 Selena Gomez - Hands To Myself 192

25 30 Elle King - Ex's And Oh's 212

24 15 1975 - The Sound 213

23 35 ZAYN – Pillowtalk 215

22 22 Rihanna (feat. Drake) - Work 216

21 ** Twenty One Pilots - Heathens 216

These are the would-be Auto-qualifyers for next year, however ever song from 2016 will be out of the running next year. There are some big drops from last years Semi-Finalisrs though, the biggest being ‘On Hold’ which drops from last years 6th place to 30 this year! There’s also drops for ‘Vroom Vroom’, ‘Stressed Out’ and ‘The Sound’ – all of which lose their semi-finalist positions.

Some good climbs though for sounds outside last years top 40, most notably ‘Aint My Fault’ which is currently polarising opinions on the Pop Factor climbs from 96 to 31, there are also climbs for ‘Shelter’ which rises from 54-40, ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ climbs from 43-39 and ‘Send My Love’ climbs from 56-37. ‘Blow Your Mind’ has a strong showing as it rises from 51-36 and ‘Pink + White’ rises from 45 to 33. ‘Heathens’ is the highest new entry this year and stall in 21st place, finishing 7pts away from a semi-finalist position.

Semi-Finalists

20 11 Bruno Mars - 24k Magic 223

19 19 Mike Posner – I Took A Pill In Ibiza (Seeb Remix) 234

18 14 1975 - Somebody Else 241

17 39 Rihanna - Love On The Brain 243

16 07 Blossoms - Charlemagne 253

15 03 Kungs vs. Cookin On 3 Burners – This Girl 254

14 08 Sia - Cheap Thrills 260

13 13 Clean Bandit (feat. Anne-Marie & Sean Paul) - Rockabye 262

12 20 Rihanna - Kiss It Better 267

11 29 Fifth Harmony (feat. Ty Dolla $ign) - Work from Home 272

10 28 Clean Bandit (feat. Louisa Johnson) - Tears 278

09 09 Calvin Harris (feat. Rihanna) - This Is What You Came For 282

08 10 Adele - When We Were Young 305

07 26 Little Mix (feat. Jason Derulo) - Secret Love Song 308

06 16 Alan Walker (feat. Iselin) - Faded 333

So what did make it? There are a couple of new/ returning faces to the semi-final line-up as ‘Love On The Brain’ climbs from 39 to 17 to make it 2 Rihanna songs in the semis. There’s also clumbs from ‘Work From Home’ which rises from 29 to 11 and ‘Tears’ which climbs from 28 to 10 – managing to slip in front of Rockabye for Clean Bandit this year. There’s also a big climb for ‘Secret Love Song’ which rises from 26 to 7 and also ‘Faded’ which rises from 16 to 6 and finishes 25pts behind the top 5.

There are some songs which slide out of the top 10, ‘Charlemagne drops from 7 to 16 and ‘Cheap Thrills’ slides from 8 to 14. There is a big fall for ‘This Girl’ which finished 3rd in this heat last year and was an automatic finalist, this year it slides 12 places to 15 as a certain song which went viral this year takes a big, big climb…

cheerFinalists cheer

05 12 Zara Larsson - Lush Life 358

04 05 Weeknd (feat. Daft Punk) - I Feel It Coming 359

03 02 Christine And The Queens - Tilted / Christine 384

02 04 Weeknd (feat. Daft Punk) - Starboy 396

01 01 Ariana Grande - Into You 483

‘Lush Life’ takes a massive 7 place climb this year as it rises from 12th place to 5th place and goes directly through to the final round. I guess not too much of a surprise given its had a massive resurgence this year. The Weeknd still has 2 songs in the top 5 and both climb; I Feel it Coming rises from 5 to 4 and ‘Starboy’ rises from 4 to 2. ‘Tilted’ drops a place from 2 to 3, but its ‘Into You’ which remains dominant for 2016. In fact it finishes 87pts ahead of 2nd place and gained votes from all bar 10 voters.

That’s a shame…. Let’s hope the other rounds change this

not my Tinashe nom getting the second least votes... tearsmile (tbf I knew it probably wouldn't do that well unfortunately)

surprised that Cinderella finished that low given its revival this year and that Saint Claude drop is shameful, I might even prefer it to Tilted / Christine!

not the Twenty One Pilots trinity all missing out sad

Nice to see Shelter get a decent end, that's always either flopped or done surprisingly well depending on the voterbase x

Oh no at that xx fall though </3

Won't be sorry to lose this year overall as with many of these late teen years, it was a very poor time for mainstream music.

Early signs are this might be an even more disappointing year for indie / alternative than last year was 🙈 come on the voter base from 2 years ago, get involved!

not mad at my highest being #31 (Ain't My Fault)! Top 50 for another one of mine too! (By Your Side)

I know me forgetting to vote (sorreee oops I will engage with this soon x) didn't help but oh hell naur at 'On Hold' going out in such an undignified manner snif
