imagine going back in time fifteen years and telling fun. fans that Jack Antonoff would be a household name while Nate Ruess would be largely remembered for a feature on a P!NK song...

  • Going to need Tame Impala and co.'s collaboration with Justice to make the chart next week <3

Biography

As a child, Robyn spent a good chunk of time touring with her parents' experimental theater group—an experience that ignited one of the more unusual trajectories in modern pop. Discovered performing at a school assembly, Robyn (born Robin Miriam Carlsson in Stockholm in 1979) launched her professional career at 15, cowriting every song on 1995's Robyn Is Here, including "Show Me Love" and "Do You Know (What It Takes)," both of which crossed over outside Sweden and made her a genuine if somewhat reluctant star. Burned by the conservatism of the industry (especially when it came to the treatment of young women), she left her label in the early 2000s in order to start her own—a move that essentially set her back to square one, but also made her an emblem of independence at a time when pop, as a sound, was beginning to split from the conventions of the business. Working slowly, deliberately, and with a small circle of collaborators (including Klas Ã…hlund of Teddybears and Joseph Mount of Metronomy), she helped redefine pop as something that could be cool and almost boutique, releasing a string of singles and EPs (including 2010's Body Talk series) by turns vulnerable and empowering, triumphant and deeply bittersweet—bangers you could weep to. After taking a nearly eight-year-long break from releasing solo music (a gamble almost unheard-of for a pop artist in their prime), Robyn returned in 2018 with Honey, recasting loss—romantic and personal—as the fire in which strong hearts are forged. "I wish everyone could have a fan club that would just cheer them on and root for them," she told Apple Music. "What if you have people on your Instagram, texting you, 'Yeah, I'm so excited you're going to work!'" It was a joke, of course, but the sentiment—bringing the rush of pop to a human scale—is one she built a career on. - Apple Music

Training Season finally is over!

let's ignore the new entry at 38 and play an oldie by Robyn instead.

makes sense they skipped Shotta's. given it'd be pretty hard to make a radio edit for (not as explicit as COS OF YOU from last week but still probably too hard/explicit for the radio)

Biography

Olivia Rodrigo recognises that the yearning, melancholy aspect of her love songs is key to their intense emotional appeal—beginning with 2021’s weepy smash, “drivers license”. “I think that grounds it in something real,” she told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in 2026, “and that’s why we resonate with those types of songs so much.” Born in 2003 in Murrieta, California, Rodrigo juggled childhood lessons in piano, voice and acting before starring in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and eventually turning to pop music with an abashed passion for seething ’90s alt-rock. Rodrigo was only 18 when she released her debut album, SOUR, a breakup record with a meticulous rage: “Where’s my f***ing teenage dream?” she wondered on “brutal”, the album’s Elastica-recalling opener. GUTS followed in 2023, with Rodrigo and repeat producer/collaborator Dan Nigro placing her pointillistic lyrics in an expanded sonic palette that incorporated influences from off-kilter ’90s acts like The Breeders and B******e Surfers. In the same 2026 interview, she described each of her albums as a journey of self-discovery—including that year’s you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. Observing that it’s the first album she’d made as a woman in her twenties, Rodrigo hinted at how she traded angst for joy on several tracks. But even then, there should still be enough visceral realism to keep fans poring over every lyrical detail. - Apple Music

Biography

Noah Kahan pens tender-hearted meditations on life’s ups and downs that are rustic enough for country cabins yet infectious enough for the pop charts. The singer-songwriter was born in 1997 and grew up on a farm in Vermont. He spent his youth refining his folk picking on guitar, banjo and mandolin while transforming his voice into the raspy falsetto captured on his debut hit, 2017’s “Hurt Somebody”. Recorded while bouncing between New York, LA and points in between, Kahan’s first two full-lengths, 2019’s Busyhead and 2021’s I Was / I Am, showcase an artist sharpening his pop instincts. When the COVID pandemic hit in 2020, Kahan returned to Vermont and—feeling nostalgic for his New England childhood—stripped his music to its gritty soul, resulting in 2022’s breakout album, Stick Season. Its viral title track later took Kahan all the way to the big time (thanks, in part, to an Olivia Rodrigo cover in 2023) and he went on to reimagine several Stick Season cuts—including a version of “Dial Drunk” featuring rapper Post Malone—that reflect a gift for shaping folk and pop into increasingly novel expressions. Kahan might have been a changed man after Stick Season, but on 2026 follow-up The Great Divide, he got back to doing what he does best: penning small-town stories with searing honesty that root themselves in your head and heart. “Stick Season is like doing shrooms and thinking you understand the entire world,” he told Apple Music. “The Great Divide is like three months later: ‘That was great and that was helpful but there’s a lot more we gotta figure out still.’” - Apple Music

kinda surprised to see COS OF YOU still in the top 40 but it's been strong on YouTube all week - unsurprised to see it skipped though given its VERY explicit content

But back on track, The Great Divide promotion is going to overshadow this soundtrack single.

Morrison climbing and no Digga in the top 40 yay! Yet to hear expectations, not streaming it of my own accord

Never heard of Season 25, I see comparisons to PARTYNEXTDOOR from a (somewhat difficult) Google which doesn't fill me with hope, also get that apostrophe out of the title xx clap for another artist making a chart breakthrough though - a bit less established than last week's but I see he's been releasing singles since 2023.

I think you'll hear Expectations on the 23rd October chart show (two days before my sister's 28th birthday!).

Skipping Expectations when it's a new entry that's actually not about drugs or sex, what's the reason?

Lol at Morrison climbing regardless, I listened and it just sounds like UK Poo? Did the same with Shottas was also tosh.
