It's SoundClash!

In this event we celebrate the one hit wonders of the 21st century so far.

In each round, two songs will go head to head to come out on top, with each credited artist only having a single UK Top 40 hit to their name. In each case, you're voting for your favourite song. The winning songs will then go into a grand collection of one hit wonders to be voted for once the opening rounds are complete.

These are the two songs going head to head this round;

Rui Da Silva feat. Cassandra – Touch Me {#1, 2001} 🇵🇹

Rui da Silva is a Portuguese DJ, producer and remixer known for his influential contributions to house music. He achieved a UK chart-topper in late 2001.

DVBBS & Borgeous feat. Tinie Tempah – Tsunami (Jump) {#1, 2014} 🇨🇦

DVBBS & Borgeous are electronic dance music artists who joined forces to create one of the biggest festival anthems of 2013. Their collaboration became an international hit, renowned for its explosive drops, driving basslines and high-energy big-room house sound.

  • Touch Me and it's not even close. Even the original Tsunami whilst vastly superior to the trash TT version can't get near.

  • I don't believe we have! Although Nelly Furtado is of Portuguese heritage.

  • Also for @HanaCow-kun as a fan of the big room era, was Tsunami peak chart music for you at the time? I think you made a post once about the song that you were a fan.

Rui and Cassandra.

Cool trance/progressive house and also sampling Spandau Ballet - Chant No. 1's funky guitar is genius {but got him in trouble}.

not a fan of Tinie's "high quality" lyrical additions? /s (but seriously, 100% agree that his lyrics are awful on the vocal edit of Tsunami)

My vote goes to Rui Da Silva.

@jimwatts chart trivia question... have we had a Portuguese #1 ever since this one?

it would have been a multiple-week #1 on my personal chart, yes even if KSHMR isn't credited as the primary artist.

Has to be the divine Touch Me.

No to Tsunami (Jump).

I will never forgive Touch Me for denying a number one for ‘It’s The Way You Make Me Feel’ but I do prefer it from these choices

I vaguely recall that Rui Da Silva is actually the only Portuguese artist who's ever charted at all in the UK, nevermind at #1. (Apart from Salvador Sobral's Eurovision winner $ma$hing in at #97).
