January 30, 200719 yr Hello Mikey! Would you please PM me the Top 10 of the albums chart with sales as soon as you have it? :) and one more question - is there any effect of The Confessions Tour on the COADF's sales? Thanks in advance :)
January 30, 200719 yr I think it;s the UK public myself. They only really care about 'what's in and new' atm. For example look at all the new acts doing well in both charts atm. You can tell if a band has lasting power by the success of their 2nd album people say but most followups to huge successes tend to go to #1 anyway and sell loads just because of the entacipation surrounding it - many people will buy it because they bought the 1st only to be disappointed and then the album sells less & less. Clearly not the case with the likes of Snow Patrol & Razorlight however. This is Razorlight's second album though, and Snow Patrol's fifth / sixth / seventh (I dunno, lost count) It's true though, music's very transient these days and, yep, The Klaxons (if they ever do another album) will never get to number one again since their album's going straight in there. Ditto the Arctic Monkeys probably. The likes of Hard-Fi, Kasier Chiefs and Editors, however, are almost guaranteed a number one album each as their first album was picked up slowly. As for Norah - there's a reason why the third album is usually referred to as "the difficult album". There's not many who've managed to pull off a classic third - Happy Mondays, The Clash, Blur... For the record, I think most band's debut albums are their best and, with the 'get another out as soon as possible' mentality around now, I don't think this'll change. I bet Kasabian and The Killers wish they'd spent a little longer on the songs of their second albums.
January 30, 200719 yr Absolutely gobsmacked at Norah.Thought I was dreaming!! Expected it to be No.1.Mind you I have her first two and love them both but am undecided about buying this.Maybe I'm not alone then.Money's a bit tight so I've to be a bit choosy.

Do you think being popular aka the first album being #1(or a hit single like MCR) is counter productive to a bands/artists image. OR do you just thing that those that have been hyped to get an instant #1 album have already attracted those buyers that are likely to move onto something else very quickly and hence the second to third album is of no interest, no matter how good it is? Does a long chart run help, or does a long chart run only help if the album is selling in a large quantity?
January 30, 200719 yr I did think Norah's sales would be lower this time but was certain it would be #1. Perhaps it still will be by the weekend. It will be interesting to watch Dido's next release. For me they fall into the same bracket, pleasant enough but the 3rd dose gets a bit boring.
January 30, 200719 yr bloomin Norah  t'was to be expected really. She hasn't been around for a while, and it's all the same to me

But Dido´s 2nd album sold in UK the same as her debut, while Norah already fell like 60% with her second release. Plus, Dido is working with a different producer and said the album will be different from the previous.
January 30, 200719 yr vote for a Kelis forum people, think of the fab Lil' Star that is top 20 midweeks  btw, when is it released physically?
