Hopefully they will say the album is out now, and well, then she can have even more sales this week :D :P

I'm sure the whole country knows that the album is out now already!

omg just noticed fergie is released this week thougth she was out on downloads thought it would have been a top 10
Alicia must not have good physicals, as she's at 4 on iTunes :( hopefully they will pick up tomorrow :D
Anyway they'll all be happy by Sunday ... the lads will make way for someone else to take #2 as I think they're the only entertainers in the UK at the moment NOT doing anything for CIN.

Not quite true. From their official site:

"Make sure you tune in to Children In Need on BBC1 tonight as Take That have recorded a special fundraising film!"

That means, although they won't be performing, people will see them throughout the show anyway. I think Kylie will overtake regardless but I bet it boosts TT sales slightly also.

They've been working on some new stuff - but apparently when they got the stuff together for BW - they had enough left over to do a couple more albums .... maybe they'll buff up that. They've definitely been telling fans (well apparently a very tipsy Gary & Mark anyway) after the shows that they'll do one more. I think whatever it is will do well but probably not as well as BW.

By the way if you're liking TT this time round - there's a link to some footage (fan footage from Belfast) on the TT forum. Usually those things are poor quality but this one is not bad at all. Either way - try and get to see them live sometime. Because the records don't do them justice - their shows are just knockout.

I REALLY wanna c dem live but I'm already going to the Spice Girls concert twice and Take That tickets went on sale b4 them but sold out very quickly.

They are so expensive on eBay and I can't even afford to go to the new year's eve show (have you heard about that).

I can't believe they are only gonna do one more album???

Why are they not gonna carry on, they are so good now, they should at least do another two studio albums unless the album flops, which I doubt.

If they do another two then they'll have 3 new albums done and they can have a greatest hits out with a few new songs and then end it there.

No promo? Flower off... This is by far the MOST hyped comeback EVER.

What exactly TT did when they released their second greatest hits except for the documentary? Hardly any promo.

The thing is first time around we had'nt a chance to have both TT and SG at the same time to see who's really bigger and better..and now we can clearly see that Take That ARE Uk's biggest pop band and hardly have any competition from ANY band. SG, for one, still have available tickets almost to all their shows while Take That's were sold within hours literally!

Look I'm not gonna dis Take That cos I REALLY like dem but for you to say Spice Girls still have tickets left is just a joke.

They did release a few more seats but the fact is Spice Girls are doing 17 shows in London alone and don't forget 2 dates in Manchester that sold out in less than 18 minutes (not forgetting the London date sold out in a record 38 secs). They amazing thing is for the first date you needed a code and only some fans got that (i was one of em) and it STILL sold out in 38 secs)

I bet you any money they could have done more but they don't want to.

Spice Girls have been hyped BUT they have hardly performed or even mentioned that their album is out or anyfin like that.

2nite's CIN is gonna be the real promotion for them as they will sing Stop and new single Headlines.

True, no one can touch Take that rite now in the UK BT Spice girls were and R truly GLOBAL and take that will neva be that (Just a fact)

I'm sure the whole country knows that the album is out now already!

Fells like half the country has already bought it...! :)

No way, their fans from 1996 moved on a long time ago, no milk was "curdled" by Leona, it happened a long time ago. Even before Leona came back into the spotlight, the tickets for the Spice Girls shows were selling poorly for such an established act.

What on earth r u chatting about, maybe u've ben living under a rock, but Spice girls tickets sold out in minutes.

They are the ONLY british group that are capable of adding dates in places like China, Canada and the US. They are doing 6 dates in New York alone, that's bloody fantastic.

Leona has got a longggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg way to go (Gudluck to her though)

Mikey, Are Bloc Party top 7? many thanks :D

The Sun appoints new Bizarre editor

11:59 | Friday November 16, 2007

By Adam Benzine

The Sun is to shake up its editorial division, with Victoria Newton - editor of the paper's celebrity gossip column Bizarre - being promoted to head of features and entertainment.

The move will see Netwon leaving the Bizarre column, with Gordon Smart being promoted to Bizarre editor. Newton's promotion comes as former head of features Dominic Mohan is promoted to deputy editor.

Sun editor Rebekah Wade describes the promotions as "an historic moment". "Victoria Newton, who has run Bizarre so superbly and with such style, is promoted to the new post of head of features and entertainment," says Wade. "She will supervise the whole features and showbiz operation both in the paper and online.

"Gordon has made a great name for himself in showbiz circles and now follows in famous footsteps," she adds. "I am sure he will rise to the challenge."

I'm a member of that site too - but I only ever go directly to the messages - hardly ever via the main page. Cheers! Still .... not sure I can sit through all the c**p that makes up the Children in Need program just for a few minutes of Take That. Think I'll stick to ITV tonight!

I think both Kylie and Spice Girls will be ahead of the boys come Sunday but then hopefully they'll both drop quite rapidly as two dreadful records really should. Can't see either of them taking over from Leona. Got a sneaky feeling that TT could actually then go up again after all the furore of CIN is over. Boy I bet the Spice Girls are glad their song is a CIN single it looks as if it would have flopped massive style otherwise.

BPI, ERA & OCC PRESS RELEASE - Strong week for music retail takes Leona Lewis closer to historic album sales record : 16:11:2007

- Retailers report beginning of Christmas sales lift with Leona Lewis' debut poised to become the fasting selling debut album in British history

- Strong sales extend to digital as British record business sells 150 millionth download

UK record companies' trade association the BPI says strong sales of Leona Lewis' debut album Spirit are sending music fans back into stores, and the album could become the fastest selling debut album in chart history having sold 273,150 copies already this week. This week is expected to be one of the strongest weeks for music retail this year.

BPI analysis of chart data shows that on average, Friday and Saturday account for 35% of total weekly album sales. And with CD sales accounting for more than 95% of all album sales, retailers are bracing themselves for a busy weekend that could see Leona surpass the current first week sales record of 364,000, set by Arctic Monkeys' debut Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I Am Not in January 2006.

CD sales are picking up fast as Christmas approaches. In the last seven weeks, James Blunt, Foo Fighters, Eagles and Westlife have all sold more than 100,000 copies in their week of release. Leona becomes the fourteenth artist to sell more than 100,000 albums in one week this year. And home-grown talent continues to drive album sales, with UK acts claiming seven of the top ten sellers so far this year. One such UK artist, Amy Winehouse, remains the best-seller of the year thus far, just ahead of Mika.

And the strong sales week has not been limited to the high street, with news that the 150 millionth legal download was purchased in Britain this week. The BPI says this milestone represents an important step in the evolution of the UK recorded music business and a significant achievement given the widespread online copyright theft.

BPI Chief Executive, Geoff Taylor said:

“Leona is just one of many talented British acts breaking through the 100,000 sales a week barrier, and the strong CD sales we've seen throughout this week are testament to the strength of British music.”

ERA Director General, Kim Bayley said:

“These figures also confirm that physical product and the in-store experience remain hugely attractive to many music fans.”

Digital means "unsigned" acts can chart but physical sales are still important to have a hit

Changes to chart rules means artists can chart on digital sales alone by marketing effectively to fanbases online. Internet radio station Last FM have partnered with digital marketing and online music retail experts 7Digital in a bid to convert Web 2.0 popularity into record sales, and will shortly announce which artist their listeners have selected to mount an ambitious challenge for the coveted Christmas Number One slot on download sales alone.

Gnarls Barkley became the first act to achieve this feat in April 2006 and high profile acts now regularly enter the Top-5 on download sales alone. But digital-only chart-toppers are in the minority.

BPI analysis of the year's Number One singles shows that strong physical sales are still important to hit the top spot, with CDs, vinyl and USB formats accounting for an average of 43% of sales of number ones.

This figure rises to 46% when based on first-week sales alone, and is even higher for the Xmas number one chart week, the biggest singles week of the year. The X-Factor winner has held this title for the last 2 years: Leona Lewis took last year's Xmas number one with 75% of physical sales. The year before, Shayne Ward fought off the challenge from DIY band Nizlopi with 90% physical sales.

BPI Chief Executive Geoff Taylor said:

"Digital has given the British single a shot in the arm, and music fans now have millions of songs from which to select each week's number one. But strong retail support for physical singles is still essential to turn a popular song into a No.1 single and many music fans still prefer physical product and the in-store experience.”

"The rebirth of the singles format is creating new excitement around the charts and getting more and more people into the habit of buying music legally online. Despite the problem of freeloading, the growing strength of legal digital sales reminds us all that music has a bright future online."

Martin Talbot, Managing Director of the Official Charts Company said:

“The success of Leona Lewis’s album is providing clear evidence that CDs remain an attractive choice for music fans. Strong sales from The Eagles, Westlife, Britney Spears and The Hoosiers are also drawing music fans in-store, and Lewis is set to become one of the biggest hits of this coming Christmas season.”
