oh so Spice Girls aren't doing that bad cos they will probably sell the same as Take That's Greatest Hits.

you obviously missed my post above

The Ultimate Collection was TT's second Greatest Hits collection though

The first in 1996 sold 275,000 copies when it debuted at number 1 and that wasn't a Christmas release

 If the chart was all about taking it in turns, don't you think Take That AND Kylie would have used all of theirs up by now? Maybe if Kylie had come back with a stronger comeback single...

I know. But it's my right to vent my frustration. :(

No I didn't.

The first greatest hits doesn't count cos they were still in their prime so they wud sell so many.

Can you imagine if the spice girls greatest hits came out in their prime?

I think Spice Girls aren't doing bad with hardly any promotion.

Is that real? That is bloody fantastic - surely that must have been purely 'physicals' too, I don't think downloading was around then was it?

No, it's together with downloads. I f I remember well Patience was number 1 on iTunes.

Norma, do you know when a new Take That album (full of new material) is coming out?

I'm a fan of the new Take That minus robbie and the reason why they are doing so well is because they have bloody fantastic songs. They have reinvented themselves and it has worked. Take That have become serious musical performers. I also believe they will get better and better.

P.S. I bought my SG greatest hits CD+DVD last night, it's wicked! :yahoo:

They've been working on some new stuff - but apparently when they got the stuff together for BW - they had enough left over to do a couple more albums .... maybe they'll buff up that. They've definitely been telling fans (well apparently a very tipsy Gary & Mark anyway) after the shows that they'll do one more. I think whatever it is will do well but probably not as well as BW.

By the way if you're liking TT this time round - there's a link to some footage (fan footage from Belfast) on the TT forum. Usually those things are poor quality but this one is not bad at all. Either way - try and get to see them live sometime. Because the records don't do them justice - their shows are just knockout.

But Ben the 346K first week sales Manic Kangaroo was referring to was for Back For Good though, not Patience. Surely this would have been before downloading.

Oh, sorry! I haven't noticed this :o

BTW Back For Good it such a classic! :D

No promo? Flower off... This is by far the MOST hyped comeback EVER.

What exactly TT did when they released their second greatest hits except for the documentary? Hardly any promo.

The thing is first time around we had'nt a chance to have both TT and SG at the same time to see who's really bigger and better..and now we can clearly see that Take That ARE Uk's biggest pop band and hardly have any competition from ANY band. SG, for one, still have available tickets almost to all their shows while Take That's were sold within hours literally!

I agree, the SG have had huge promotion, been planned for ages...it was all going to go so well untill Leona curdled their milk.

There's a difference between hype and promo. The hype Kylie's X album has built up this year far outweights that surrounding the SG's Greatest Hits!

No way, their fans from 1996 moved on a long time ago, no milk was "curdled" by Leona, it happened a long time ago. Even before Leona came back into the spotlight, the tickets for the Spice Girls shows were selling poorly for such an established act.

Unfortunately the track has dipped today, possiblity a Top 30 entry

Good thing I downloaded it then! :D.

OMG, Kylie #4  give me a mo

Apologize has overtaken it? It's at #2 on iTunes at the moment. That T2 song could have though.

Well luckily Take That and One Republic wont be on Children in Need, I think, Kylie will be. :P

I can't believe Nickelback is doing better on physicals than the Spice Girls on downloads

Sales for Nos 2-5 must be very close, I bet its only just 100-500 copies separating them

I recon by Sunday, Kylie might have reclaimed #3. I hope Alicia can creep into the Top 5.
can't believe kylie is at 4. its not that bad a song. i actually think its quite good and wanted it number 1-especially after I Believe In You was robbed in 2004
I hope tonight will help Kylie and the Spice Girls. The Spice Girls song might not be the best song ever, but it should at least make the top 10.

Just shows no one is invincible. Kylie & the Spice Girls are both paying the price for releasing imo dire singles.

Would love to see Alicia climb. Love Apologize too. :cheer:
