Posted November 13, 200717 yr It has been proved that with Christmas approaching there are huge downloading figures of some seasonal classics like Fairytale Of New York and All I Want For Christmas Is You. Will they appear again on the charts this year now that oldies can re-chart? And can other Xmas classics (Slade, Wizzard, Mud, Wham!, Band Aid and so on) can do enough to chart again?
November 13, 200717 yr Easily "All I Want For Xmas" & "Fairytale Of New York" can't wait to hear them again. ^_^
November 13, 200717 yr I would fully expect Mariah and The Pogues to get to Top 30 (and possibly Top 20) by Christmas..
November 13, 200717 yr Somehow i think Snow Patrol will rise back into the top 40, its rising already even if it has nothing to do with Christmas it reached 9 last New Year and im sure if it was included in the chart that autumn it wouldn't still be top 10.
November 13, 200717 yr If download only releases counted last year Mariah would have charted within the Top5. She was in the midweeks Top10 every week but was DQ'd by the time the Sunday Chart was announced.
November 13, 200717 yr Mariah, Pogues, Wham, Slade and Wizzard Maybe even John and Yoko? The Darkness? Any of the Band aids? I'd definately put money on Mariah, Pogues and Wham going top 20 though.

I'd be happy to see The Pogues & Kirsty McColl, Slade, Wizzard chart (and along with Mariah Carey, they probably will ...) Some I'd like to see chart but probably don't have a snowball's chance in hell (that's an apt term) are Greg Lake's 70's hit and Mike Oldfield's (that in dulce duebelo - guitar thingy tune). If one of the Band Aids charted - I'd hope people would have the good taste to download the original one. I wouldn't like John & Yoko to chart. Norma Edited November 13, 200717 yr by Norma_Snockers
November 13, 200717 yr with the basic Music Videos *cough*The Hits and TMF*cough cough* playing them in a Xmas Videos Special about 10 times a week im sure some will make an appearance
November 13, 200717 yr I would say Mariah will have the best selling xmas song this year. I wonder if any adverts will have an influence, for example, M and S with Most Wonderful Christmas of the Year. It would be great to see some xmas songs in the charts that haven't made it previously such as The Waitresses with Christmas Wrapping
November 14, 200717 yr I guess it depends - most Christmas compilations e.g. the Best Christmas album in the world...ever which get rolled out every year are full of stocking fillers with only a few good tracks on them. I'm not sure about the download rules - if somebody downloads three songs off a twenty track compilation and ignores the rest does that count as three single sales or a 0.15 sale for the album??? I'd also love to see Mike Oldfield and Greg Lake in the chart as those songs are ace, but it'll be the usual Mariah c**p that'll chart high. Would also like Jona Lewie's 'Stop the Cavalry' and Johnny Mathis' 'When A Child is Born' to be in there.

I guess every year from now on the chart will be full of Xmas tunes at Xmas - as well as Halloween tunes at Halloween, and every big love song around Feb 14th.
November 14, 200717 yr Unfortunately not many of them will make the top 40, you might get a few odd ones, like Wham, Pogues, & Mariah, but there will be a lot of them in the top 200

They'll count as three single sales - it only counts as an album if it's downloaded in its entirity (by clicking "Buy Album" or whatever the equivalent for the other places is).
