All i know is i went into HMV on Boxing Day and walked straight back out again. It was so busy that you could hardly move. Pushchairs shoving everyone out the way, security guards looking like they have a hangover and a queue snaking its way through the entire shop.

Won't Leon and Leona still be no1 in the charts this week though? as they'll both still have big sales from the sunday and christmas eve included.

I thought there was some obscure rule that chart albums under £5 didn't count towards the chart?

However, the crucial price is how much the record companies are selling it to the shops at - it's quite possible that shops can entice people in by selling some albums at less than they paid the record companies for them, in the hope they'll buy some others that are not in sales.

My sister owns Amy's actually so I've heard it. I'm not a fan and didn't really like it so I won't be getting it. and I just don't fancy Paolo. His singles have been a bit hit and miss for me but to be fair I haven't heard the whole album.

..... as could lots of rock bands who Aunties hadn't heard of and who nieces, nephews & grandkids will swap their new Westlife/ ..../ albums for.

 

:lol: Since WL's pattern for the last few albums has been sell loads at Xmas but with a short shelf life afterwards (with RELATIVE flop singles/few further post album release singles at all), i wonder what sort of sales they'd manage well away from Xmas - Xmas being a time when traditionally sales are boosted by those that buy exclusively at this time,more frequently with lesser knowledge of chart music and/or bought were the actual music content is irrelevent or not heard by the buyer eg bought for a present that one buys for another out of habit/'cos the receiver normally likes the group etc.

 

I can see how WL with their cynically excessively manufactured down to the endless cheesey smiles and sexually manipulative deceits ( Mark was promoted as available and STR8 initially :puke2: ) - rigid formula appeal to such buyers especially when some people get older they become less tolerant of change and cling on to the familiar.

Shameless, Yes, and Leona has number one album again.

This will give her 7 weeks at number one, the longest by a female act in the UK charts ever.

2 Hearts is up 5 places to No 21.

Wow is up 4 places to No 28.

today's chart would be an interesting listen. Pity we'll only get a quick countdown at the end, If Fearne and Reggie even remember to do it. I think sometimes they don't even realise their counting down the chart.
