Posted February 26, 200818 yr Goldfrapp set to top albums chart 13:56 | Tuesday February 26, 2008 By Ben Cardew Goldfrapp’s Seventh Tree (Mute) looks set to top the albums charts this Sunday, despite strong competition from the Brits-enhanced Amy Winehouse (Island). Winehouses’s second album, Back To Black, has seen a significant boost in sales since performing at last week’s Brit Awards, with the Deluxe Edition likely to claim second place in the charts this Sunday according to early sales reports. The standard issue of Back To Black is also likely to secure a tope thirty placing. However, it is Goldfrapp’s third album that is likely to top the charts, having sold around 14,000 copies on its first day of release. The chart will also see new entries from Donny Osmond with From Donny – With Love (Decca), Simply Red with the collectors’ edition of Stars (Rhino), Johnny Mathis with A Night To Remember (Columbia) and Janet Jackson, whose new album Discipline (Mercury) is likely to miss a top thirty placing in its first week of release. On the singles chart it looks like being a very quiet week, with little movement and no new entries in the top 40. Source: MW FULL UPDATE Singles 01 Duffy - Mercy 20k :o 02 H Two O feat. February 26, 200818 yr i'm really really hoping Goldfrapp get a number 1 with this album. it would be extremely well-deserved and nice climax to their career thus far after "supernature" was such a total smash.
February 26, 200818 yr Author Top 3 singles are the same, Goldfrapp are #1, and Janet just made the top 40 Give me a few minute before I answer any questions.
February 26, 200818 yr Amazing for Goldfrapp :) When you got time, no GA single in the top40? Edited February 26, 200818 yr by Xmas Bertie
February 26, 200818 yr Considering Janet's last album had a full lead single release and scraped in at #75 or something, I think Discipline is doing quite well! :D I have my copy, great album. ^_^
February 26, 200818 yr O BUGGER, I've just realised Umbrella is back in the top 40 :o  thats funny as its actually just STOPPED raining where I am
February 26, 200818 yr Author Before anyone asks Britney is a non mover, and no sign of the album in the top 40.
February 26, 200818 yr Author For a second week on a trot there are no physical entries in the top 40, but for some reason Taio Cruz, Mark Ronson with Just & Stop are marked as new entries
February 26, 200818 yr What a boring chart...hopefully Taio Cruz and Alphabeat will provide some excitement later on in the week
February 26, 200818 yr Considering Janet's last album had a full lead single release and scraped in at #75 or something, I think Discipline is doing quite well! :D I have my copy, great album. ^_^ Janet's last album made #63, sadly I think Janet could easily fall to around this position by Sunday. :( I was shocked to see the album in the shops yesterday however, easily the biggest release cock up I've ever seen with an album!
