February 26, 200818 yr I'm really glad Britneys new single has turned out to be her most consistent hit TO DATE!! She's been in the Top 15 for about 9 weeks or so isnt it.
February 26, 200818 yr I think the charts are more interesting than in 2000 when there was a new number 1 practically every week and 4-6 new entries in the Top 10 most weeks. As songs are staying longer at number 1 these days, it is logically more difficult to get to number 1 so therefore it means a lot more when you actually do get there. If anything the Album charts are getting more like the singles charts were 5-10 years ago with albums entering at number 1 then dropping very quickly eg Jack Johnson, The Feeling and, no doubt next week, Goldfrapp. Meanwhile back at the chart predictions, it seems that the Brits effect is still apparent especially for Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson.

I agree with you on your first point, tracks are beginning to stay longer at #1, I can see some acts will try to beat the record at some point  but I do find having a long #1 makes the chart so boring, I don't mind a 5-6 weeks run, but anything over 7 gets a bit tiresome. The Brit effect will probably trail off towards the end of the week, the Daniel Merriwether collaboration should fall out later on in the week, I can't see it climbing anymore to be honest.
February 26, 200818 yr glad call the shoots are still in top 40 love that tune :P girls aloud are doing well with there new song hopefully top 30 by the weekend

February 26, 200818 yr Goldfrapp set to top albums chart 13:56 | Tuesday February 26, 2008 By Ben Cardew However, it is Goldfrapp’s third album that is likely to top the charts, having sold around 14,000 copies on its first day of release. You'd have thought MW, of anyone, would know this is Goldfrapp's *FOURTH* album!! Yay for it being #1 of course.
February 26, 200818 yr Duffy sales have been really good, it will be interesting to see how much her album sells next week :D
February 26, 200818 yr 'Discipline' isn't in my local Tesco either. :( I expect that it will probably drop a lot before Sunday since, as StrawberryBounce said, most of the true fans will have gone out and bought it already. It's unlikely that the casual buyer will pick this up because to get it you'd actually have to be at CD store, it hasn't really been promoted either. I'm quite surprised that Alicia Keys looks to have missed the top 40. Edited February 26, 200818 yr by Adi_Gallia
February 26, 200818 yr I think there will be plenty of excitement. Just because the Top 4 have not changed does not make the chart boring as there could be some interesting moves outside the top 10. Also, don't forget that this time 2 weeks ago, Mercy was only Top 40. I wonder if Mercy can sell 100k copies this week. 20*3.5=70 Thats what people generally use to determine it Utah Saints down 9 ohmy.gif Im not surprised. The only version available fell 13-40 on itunes in 3 1/2 days. I know im wittering but.... :P
