I have nothing to say about this band, they are a non-entity in my life butttt the response to the new album has intrigued me somewhat.

NME gave the album a terrible review (some serious LOLality under the comments section of the review on their site), as have many other places.

It's made we wonder, does negative press especially with such an easily swayable (no pun) fanbase have an effect on record sales?

66k first sales following a 1.5 million debut, says something doesn't it...

Well I own their debut and it's a decent enough album, worth thr £4 I paid for it anyway... But whilst I occasionally still listen to it, or atleast songs off it, I have no interest in their follow-up whatsoever. The lead single is much worse than anything on their debut.
I have it, it's alright but the first is much better. Konk only has about 2 upbeat songs on it while the rest are just all quite slow and boring and the album lacks any real good electric guitar/riffs.
bad reviews wont deter me from liking or not any artist or artists material. if i like it then sod the rest... especially the nme!

Hmm i've been tempted to buy it a couple of times, but only 2 upbeat songs doesn't really sound appealing to me tbh

Ok i just listened throguh it and they're are about 4 songs i'd say are upbeat including the single. It's not an awful album but if your expecting songs from the previous album like Sofa song and Eddies gun you'll probably be dissapointed. And i never really listen to reviews anyway as everyones music taste differs so why trust someone elses.

Know the member who left awhile ago? apparently my mates brother hit him over the head with a guitar, well his exact words were:

my bro willlll was a party and he was there and he was like thi niggger this and niggger that and he was beighn a dick and my bro hit him over the head with a getar ahahahahaha

my mate is a bit of a chav who cant spell, but i found this quite funny

You've missed my point entirely.

I think negative press does effect potential sells from the casual buyer, yes.

I have their debut, and it was OK, I dislike the new song, so when I read a few bad reviews I stayed away. The same for the Feelings follow up actually.

Yeah there's only a few upbeat songs, but the 2disk edition is good...

Yeah I agree. I think they should have definitely included By My Side on the normal album. I think it's the best song out of the whole 2 disks to be honest and they just put it on the limited edition version!

First disk is better IMO, just heard a few tracks off the new one and thought it was alright

No I don't think they do. The album market is just a changing market at the moment, lower sales all round etc. I mean just look at James Blunt's sales for example.

Anywayy I really like the album, is very summeryy and I wasn't keen on it at first but I do really like it.

One last time and Tick of time/all over town are my favourite tracks on the album.
This album is mint! I love it! I downloaded it though to see if i like it enough to actually buy... havent bought it yet... but I havent had enough money!

I wish people wouldn't move threads without saying anything. :/

i guess for the majority of buyers it doesnt matter as these will be the very mainstreem buyers who buy and album because they've been hearing the artist played to death on mainstreem radio - i doubt reviews are unimportant for a large sector of soceity who go along with whats being hevily advertised (also same for films as well) - and i guess there is a much small amount of reviews who purchase things from reading reviews of their trusted paper/mag/site - i guess if more peple took more notice of reviews tan radio/hype both the singles and album chart would be differnt

Been listening to this today and it has not disappointed me in the slightest.

I love Luke Pritchards voice so much. I could listen to him all day.

I love the mix of songs on this album. I didn't think they could match Inside In/Inside Out for me, as second albums so often disappoint, but I really like this and it is going to get a lot of play in my car.
