YES, of course it's a competent mix between a Pink Floyd and best 90's brit pop . GOOD!!

I love that guitar sound... It's something new. I cant wait for the album, couse it seems to me its going to be just perfect...

The single is not bad...Much better than the awful speed of sound... the only thing i hate is why the hell does every coldplay song have to end with a soft solo piano outro and Chris singing softly!!

But still interesting to see what this album is like..as i personally thought X&Y was a a let down

It's quite good, but not something that would make me buy the album.

I doubt the single will sell well, but should be welcomed by Coldplay fans.

Unlike some other comments I do like the piano music in the beginning and the end, but that could be just because I like piano music generally.

Lovin' this  Not as big of a departure as I expected! Sounds a bit more like the Echo & The Bunnyman influenced Rush Of Blood era and kinda like the Be Here Now era for Oasis (though much better obviously) Better than a lot of the X&Y stuff anyway (not that that was bad though)
I heard it for the first time a little while ago, it reminds me of that dreadful Phantom Planet song 'California' (anyone remember that?). Except surprisingly this is far better and almost tolerable.

my inability to download this song (getting that screen asking for a user name and password) must be a hotmail thing. Just reregistered using my BT email address and clicking on the link worked fine.

I like the song now, it's a grower that takes a few listens - but I was like that with Speed Of Sound, it took a few listens for me to like it.

I liked California!

I liked a few of their singles like Yellow, Trouble and The Scientist, but their singles from the last album were all awful, especially the cringeworthy Fix You. Plus their songs are so overexposed, I swear I cant hear Speed Of Sound or Clocks without wanting to throw up. Hopefully Wiley will stop them, but since boring mor stuff like them does well it'll probably be #1, unless we're blessed with another Crazy Frog
Well they wont because theyre giving it away as a freebie THANK GOD!!!!

No, the Ting Tings were disqualified because their song was completely free, but Radiohead wasn't because you had to BUY nme to get the freebie, the same will be for coldplay.

I think Coldplay are a little downhill though, i liked their breakthrough album

Its started to grow on me a little, its still a complete album track though.

I like the outro for example but thats not for a single. I'm not sure if this sort of music is a bit dated now aswell.

My download finally turned up, and I am loving it more and more by every listen :D

It's amazing - I've tried it SEVERAL times with my email, and I get nothing.

Try it with Jo's email address, and I get the email straight away. (And she doesn't like Coldplay either.)

Anyhow, 'Vida La Vida' does NOT mean 'Death & All His Friends' in

English. It means, 'Long Live The Life', OR 'Praise The Life'.

fingers crossed for Schnuffel making a sudden appearance then!

Do they really need a number one??? To sell 30k $h!tty cd singles or mp3 tracks when they can sell 400,000 albums in one week... that´s pathethic, and they´re being smart for giving the single for free... it will turn people into the album.
